Great Oakley Cricket Team 1896

Taken at Oakley Hay near the original pitch (two years earlier the club had moved to a temporary new site at Danesholme). They are shown with the trophy they had won that year: the Winners Challenge Shield, Kettering and District League Division Two. The photo shows three Lygo brothers, the captain Jim Potter behind the shield, 'Butcher' Tebbutt (second right, front row), Abel Woolston (second left, front row) and Edward Bagshaw on his right. Standing at the rear left is Sir Arthur de Capell Brooke, club president.
