From The Morning Chronicle 20th August 1857 Police Constable George Gymer No 54 of F Division was stabbed in sundry parts of his body by an abandoned female Ann Donovan, a low prostitute, following his arrest of a boy in Endell Street who she was attempting to release. The officer was taken to Charing Cross Hospital where he remains in a precarious condition although hopes were entertained of his recovery. From The Morning Chronicle 6th October 1858. Yesterday at Bow Street Police Court Policeman George Gymer 54F, who about a year ago suffered a murderous assault appeared as defendant on a very serious charge of obtaining money (£13) from the authorities of Scotland Yard by means of false & fraudulent representations by making false claims for money advances to collect a prisoner from Birmingham. He was remanded as further similar charges were to be made. From the Daily News 13th October 1858 he was bailed in two sureties of 40/- & 80/- in his own recognicance

Attended Loiusville Medical School, served as intern at St. Mary's Hospital, staff of state hospital Kalamazoo, Mich. In the army he was a lieutenant & served on the medical examining board. Fell ill with tonsilitus & died 27-08-1918, only Evansville doctor who died in serve of his country
