They also had 2 sons both stillborn. Edwin left home in London, Ontario at a young age and held various jobs in the United States. He was working as an advance man for a Carnival in Ohio and Lillian Melva Finn was a fortune teller with the carnival. They married June 8, 1916. Later after operating some ice cream parlors in Ohio Edwin was employed as a Grocery store manager, the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, known as the A & P company a very important and national retail grocery chain hired him and he earned a reputation for reorganizing stores that were in trouble. While managing the store in Kalamazoo, Michigan he developed Tuberculosis and was committed to the Sate Sanitorium in Kalamazoo. Upon his release he could not obtain employment and in 1940 committed suicide
