The ebb and flows of the courtyard were a different kind of jungle to the one
he knew , But Marrishi Karn could pick out predators and the prey as well here
as he could in the pridelands . He sat at a convenient table and order water
from the keeper of the street bar , who looked at him strangely but did as he
was bid , few of the humans argued with the big aslani . Who sat there watching
the passing crowds as he sharpened his makita with a slice of granite he had
picked up in one of the smaller stalls near the steps .
So many humans , in the jungles of the pride lands humans were rare , the native
tribes were small and scattered , here in this land of Bereny there were humans
everywhere .
Somewhere in this mass of humanity was the one he must seek out , the enemy of
the dark hand , the enemy of his enemy .
They had spoken of him in hushed voices as they took the caged aslani on the
long treck across the barrenlands , the enemy of the Dark hand , he who lead
those of the silent order . Marrishi had stored that knowledge up , keeping it
with him throughout there attempts to train him in the way of the dark hand .
Their master sort out allies for their cause . Aslani monks were known in Bereny
and feared for there prowess . The Dark hand had hoped to convert him to there
way and then return him to subvert others of his race . But he had broken free
before they could bend his will to there's and he had trekked to these civilized
lands across the wilderness .
Then he had sort out where he would find the one the dark hand feared above all
. His search had lead him here to this dungeon of the human magi Maiasmus ,
But where in this sea of humans he would find the monk known as Kai Jin
Dho he could only wonder .
Leaving his water he set off through the crowd , his eyes searching the crowd
for the one he would ask to be his master .
