The walk starts at the car park or bus terminus
in Lower Heysham, follow Barrows Lane around to the left, the road passing
below Heysham Head, with a wall separating you from the narrow road.
The path avoids crossing the village green which can be damp
in places to arrive at the edge of new houses.
Looking back to the start of the walk across the village
green, the route having followed the tree lined path on the left of the
picture.
Continue along the footpath, passing a small cul-de-sac until
a crossing point is reached. Cross here and walk on to the old miniature
golf course ( no longer used), with views of Half Moon Bay, harbour and
power stations.
Cross the golf course to a small stretch
of promenade adjoining the road. Continue through the barrier on to Shore
Road alongside the Gas Field service base and helipad. At high tide a lot
of wading birds are
often seen along the sea wall and on the grass field of the helipad.
Turn left on to Port Way away from the RORO ferry and continue to reach
the road junction at the Duke of Rothesay public house.
