Crossing the road junction at the traffic lights we proceed along Money Close Lane in the direction of the Ocean Edge Caravan Park, until the entrance to the Heysham Nature Reserve is reached. | |

Various paths lead around the Nature Reserve with identification boards at points of interest listing flora & fauna to be seen. Climbing in an anti-clockwise direction brings us to the observation tower. | ||

Here you can look out over the reserve to the north and east, whilst to the west lie the two stages of the Heysham Nuclear Power Station and to the south over the reservoirs the area around Middleton. | ||

Whilst the two nuclear plants dominate the view to the west, the naturalist should find much to admire in the reserve from this vantage point. The tower is presently closed being originally constructed so that | ||

visitors could view the construction of Heysham 1 Power station. A short walk down from the tower brings you to the visitor centre, From where various fact sheets can be obtained about the reserve. | ||

We now retrace our steps to the entrance and return along the lane back towards the Duke of Rothesay, proceeding along the northern section of the lane after the lights, to a hill above the bay. Top Next Previous | ||
