Revival Meeting was a highly enjoyable week end with plenty of historic
racing - both of historic slot car and of modern models of historic racing
cars. The first event was the Can Am proxy race. The concept of a proxy race will be new to some readers so I better explain. Entrants from all round the world have built 1/32 slot racing models of Can Am cars. All 21 cars are then sent to different tracks around the world. At each track a group of drivers race each car in turn. The result is decided by the total distance covered by each car. There is also a concourse element, this was judged at the start of the series. (That certainly makes sense - fine detail is pretty vulnerable once they start racing ). |

| There were some interesting scratch built chassis (above), while some entrants depended on production chassis from TSRF or Parma. It was interesting that some of the TSRF chassied cars went quite a bit better than others. You often need to do a bit of fine tuning to get the best out of a slot car, obviously some of the cars showed their full potential. The winner of the Netley round was the Lola 310 with Parma International 32 chassis from Phil Kalbfell. (below left).
