Once upon a time a certain Jimmy Brogan suggested the following motto for Cleveland, USA, "You gotta live somewhere." Well I think you could do a lot worse than Saint Hilaire. And when you've lived for a while in the Parisian suburbs, you realise very quickly that you could do a lot worse than Saint Hilaire! As I said in the "something about me" section, I've been in Saint Hilaire since May 2001. It's one of those places where everyone knows eachother, and everything about eachother (which can have it's downside). For all the statistics have a look at the official site... |

There's
lots of water in Saint Hilaire, le Loulay, le Riaillé, le Blaison, l'Osée, and the River
Maine, and when out walking you'll this (all in all 8 km of river or
stream). With a surface of 4062 hectares, Saint Hilaire is the largest
commune in Vendée. Only a small part of this land is taken up
by the village, the rest being farmland and vine. Click
here for the photos of the village bearing in mind that there
will be more photos of the local countryside in the Sentier section |
