Universal Studios Announced Quantum Leap Season 1 DVD release date
We knew something was in-the-works last November, when reports surfaced that Deborah
Pratt - who was heavily involved in the show - had mentioned in an interview that she
was called in to do some work on the new home video version.
Now the waiting is over, and the countdown to the street date begins. This morning,
Universal Home Video announced that Quantum Leap - Season 1 will leap home on June
8th. The nine hours of program that made up the rookie season - including the pilot
episode "Genesis" from the out-of-print item - will arrive on 2 DVDs, at a $59.98 SRP.
You can purchase the DVDs directly from Universal Studios for just $39.98.
Right now details are thin, with no details on the specs, no extras mentioned so far
(though we're sure there will be some, since Ms. Pratt participated on the release),
and no cover art to show you yet. Still, it's great to know that Sam, Al, and Ziggy
will be coming back home this summer, in one of the most-requested releases here
at the site (in the top 10!). Stay tuned, and we'll be back just as soon as Universal
circulates the remaining information about this box set.

Quantum Leaping supports the Shut Sellafield Campaign
Sellafield is now more dangerous than ever. If it is hit by terrorist attack, or if an
accident occurs, Dublin, Dundalk and Belfast will be uninhabitable. Depending on which
way the wind is blowing, England, Scotland and Wales will also be badly affected. Like
Belarus, which received 70% of the fallout from Chernobyl, Ireland did not ask for this
nuclear power base to be built beside us. It’s up to us all to try to shut Sellafield down.

Quantum Leap 10 year anniversary of Mirror Image
Today marks the 10th anniversary of the first showing of Mirror Image on
television anywhere in the world. As you all know, Mirror Image was the
final episode of Quantum Leap ever made. Up to this point, Quantum Leap
won many awards, including Emmys and Golden Globes, and was riding high
in the ratings. Then Universal Studios decided to pull the plug with
short notice. Mirror Image was the result of the short notice. We were
left with an episode, which created more questions than it answered. Prehaps
this is what Donald P. Bellisario intended. The good news is that Quantum Leap
IS coming back and hopefully these questions will be answered!

Quantum Leaping featured in one of Ireland's National Sunday Papers
Quantum Leaping was featured in Ireland on Sunday, one of the leading Sunday Newspapers
in Ireland. In the Questions and Answers page last week a person queried about whatever
happened to Sam Beckett as they never seen the final episode. I wrote in during the week
detailing what Quantum Leap was and what happened to Sam. I also noted that a new series
is in the pipeline. To my surprise when I opened the paper this morning, not only was the
letter printed, but it was the letter they used to Headline the Page. "Leaps of Fantasy".

Joining the parade of studios exploiting their libraries of TV series on DVD, Universal Studios Home
Video has announced that it is preparing DVDs of Law & Order and Baretta for release in October. The
latter has extra heat given the high-profile murder case involving Baretta star Robert Blake.
In an indication of the pressure to capitalise on this hot new market that has seen everything from The
Jeffersons to The Simpsons come to DVD, Universal took the unusual step Wednesday of announcing eight

Sci Fi USA has announced the return of Quantum Leap The news that all Quantum Leap fans, Leapers, have been waiting for was finally announced. The return of Quantum Leap! Universal Studios recently brought Sci Fi USA. This give Sci Fi the opportunity to continue on the stories of some of Universal's classic television shows. Quantum Leap was one show they couldn't ignore. Sci Fi is currently in post-production of a two-hour television movie, which they hope will pave the way to Quantum Leap: Season 6. So far Donald P. Bellisario has signed up as Executive Producer and is currently working on a script. It is not known yet whether or not Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell are reprising their roles as Sam Beckett and Al Calavicci. It is widely believed that they will as only last year Scott went to Paramount Studios with a Quantum Leap revival idea and Dean Stockwell publicly criticised Universal Studios for not coming up with a Quantum Leap Reunion sooner last April. |

Scott rumoured to be leaving Enterprise to make Quantum Trilogy The rumour mill is spinning again about a possible Quantum Leap Trilogy Movies being made. It is said that when Scott Bakula's runs out on Enterprise at the end of the third season, Scott will bow out of the most popular television series and opt to revival the role of Sam Beckett, with Dean Stockwell coming back as Al Calavicci. This is the very news that many leapers have been waiting, but are treating the news with caution as we have come so close before and nothing materialising. Maybe people have said that if Scott does revive Sam Beckett again, there is nothing to stop him from continuing Enterprise as the movie could be filmed in his Enterprise hiatus. The revival is on! I say, keep the pressure on Universal. |

Dean Stockwell Blasts Universal Over Quantum Leap Oscar Nominated Dean Stockwell has been the center of attention again lately because he and Scott Bakula are teaming up again on Star Trek: Enterprise since Quantum Leap ended nine years ago. Dean has used this occasion to highlight the campaign to have Quantum Leap again. He has branded Universal as idiots because in that nine years, they have never commissioned the revival of Quantum Leap. Dean also says that it is not too late for them to do so. He says that he and Donald would do it in a second and he knows that Scott would also love to do it. On working with Dean again, Scott says it was awesome. "We had so much fun. We just picked up where we left off. That was a blast. It was so great, having him here. He had a mouthful of stuff to say. He's cross-eyed, looking at me, like, 'What is this? How do you do this?'" Dean also added, "We took up exactly where we left off. We had a way of working on 'Quantum Leap' for five years. As a result, in the first hour, the crew was falling on the floor, laughing." |
