As Sam leaps in, he is sitting in front of a mirror with a woman applying makeup and a fault moustache to him. In the background, Sam can hear the music to "Man of La Mancha". Then an extremely nervous stagehand comes rushing in and tells Sam that he has just 60 seconds before he goes on stage. Oh Boy! What is Sam to do? Just as Sam gets his cue to go on, the main actor comes on and is ready to go onstage.
Al tells Sam that he is here to save the career of John O'Malley, the main actor at the play. In two days time John gets so drunk that he goes onstage and falls down the stairs leaving him with permanent injuries, meaning he has to up give acting.
Sam also meets up with his High School Piano teacher, who he had a huge crush. Sam decides to make good of the crush he once had for her.
