As Sam leaps in, Little Richard's "Tutti-Frutti" is coming to the end. Sam discovers his identity, he is Howlin' Chick Howell, a DJ at a small radio station - WOF 720 AM. Apparently he isn't the greatest worker because in the past year he has gone through twelve jobs!
Rachel Porter has just taken over ownership of the radio station after the death of her father. She now plays Rock-N-Roll, much to this dislike of some of the older generation in Peoria. Unfortunately some of these people are sponsors of the station and threaten to pull out if she continues to play "The Devil's Music". They finally get a court order banning Rock-N-Roll being transmitted in the town.
Al arrives and informs Sam that the radio will fold within 18 months if Rachel can do without food and water, if the ban on Rock-N-Rock continues. Sam has to get banned lifted to save Rachel's future. He decides to hold a lock-in at the radio station and to play Rock-N-Roll continuously until the ban is lifted.
