Sam leaps into the body of Leonard Dancy, a Southern Lawyer in the sleepy town of Twelve Oaks Parish. Unfortunately Sam leaps into the end of a court case when they judge is asking Sam - "Guilty" or "Not Guilty". Sam looks to this left and sees a young black woman by the name of Lila Berry. Thw way she was clutching her silver cross, Sam could tell she was not guilty.

After Sam says "Not Guilty" Al turns up to say that he give the wrong answer. Now Lila will be sentenced to death instead of getting twenty years imprisonment like in the original history. Everyone is outraged with Sam for return a "Not Guilty" statement, including Lila herself. Sam knows she is covering for someone, but who? Sam intends on getting to the bottom of this.
