The Australian-Asian Institute of Civil
Leadership is a professional and academic institute, whose mission is the
promotion and recognition of excellence of leadership in fields of
endeavour. Admission to the Institute
is merit-based, and reflects formal recognition of significant achievements.
The objectives of the Institute include:
- the
encouragement of excellence in leadership in government, public administration,
private enterprise, the professions, arts, sciences, education and
philanthropy;
- the
provision a system of assessment and formal recognition for skills and
achievements in leadership;
- the
encouragement of recognition by governments and institutions of individuals and
corporations who make a positive contribution to society through leadership in
their various fields;

the encouragement and facilitation of
communication and dialogue, on issues and matters pertaining to the interests
of its members; and,

the promotion of cordial and mutually
supportive relationships between leaders in various fields.
The Australian-Asian Institute currently has
members in over twenty nations, extending beyond the immediate Australian and
Asian region. Nations in which the Institute has members are listed below:

Persons may be admitted to the Institute by
application or invitation, regardless of nationality, religion or gender.
Membership may be conferred in the following grades (in descending order of
seniority): Honorary Fellow (HonFAAICL), Fellow (FAAICL), and Member (MAAICL).
The criteria for admission to each grade are described below.
i. Honorary Fellow (HonFAAICL)
Honorary Fellowship of the Institute is
conferred exclusively in recognition of an outstanding contribution as a leader
in the fields business, politics, the professions, arts, sciences education or
philanthropy, or in recognition of a significant contribution or service to the
Institute. Honorary Fellows may be admitted by special invitation of the
Institute, or following the nomination of an individual by a corporation or
government. Honorary Fellowship may also be conferred through the normal
application process, if the candidate is considered to have demonstrated
fulfilment of the criteria.
ii.
Fellow (FAAICL)
Fellowship may be conferred upon persons with
significant successful experience in senior leadership positions, and/or
academic or professional qualifications of a senior level (e.g . FCA, FAIM,
PhD, MBA, MSc, etc). Experience, achievement, position and academic
qualifications will be considered in an integrated manner.
iii.
Member (MAAICL)
Membership is conferred upon persons who have
exhibited the potential to be effective leaders in their business or
profession, and who generally possess academic qualifications of at least
degree level (e.g. BBus, LLB, BEd).
Upon admission, a diploma is awarded by the
Institute, and members are entitled to employ the postnominals shown below:
Honorary Fellow- HonFAAICL
Fellow- FAAICL
Member- MAAICL.
Candidates for admissions should submit a
letter of application, together with a detailed curriculum vitae, which
should include details of each of the following:
- academic
qualifications, including details of conferring institutions, and education and
training;
- professional
qualifications, registrations and licences;
- details of
current and previous position(s), business and professional activities;
- details of
current and previous roles and positions in organisations, including voluntary
roles;
- descriptions
of particular achievements and contributions within the candidate’s field or
business;
- details of
honours and awards, including state orders and decorations, honorary diplomas,
etc.; and,
- any other
information which may be relevant to the assessment of the candidate’s
achievements, abilities and potential in leadership.
An nominal application fee may be kindly
requested. Application fees may be waived or adjusted on an individual basis,
according to economic circumstances, services rendered to the Institute, etc.
Persons admitted by invitation shall not be required to remit and fees.
Evaluations of applications will be made
through an assessment and review process, in accordance with the criteria for
various grades of membership stated above. Assessments of applications shall be
reviewed by at least two persons, each holding a higher degree from a
recognised University, or equivalent qualification.
