| 08:30 on Sunday the 6th of August, in the Royal Victoria Dock outside the ExCel Centre in London's Docklands, and we're off! Swim pictures are hard to come by, but this should give you an idea of what a swim start looks like. |

| Fortunately for
the photographers, I swim sooooo slowly they managed to get this picture
of me sticking my head up to have a look where I was going. The swim took me 46 minutes and the best thing I can say about it is that I survived. Though since I couldn't even swim 25m when I started training in January, well, that'll do for me. What's it like swimming in the docks? Cold (although no one else agreed with me on that one!), salty and it tastes of petrol, yuck! |

| The bike route
was from the ExCel Centre west to Canary Wharf. Turning and
heading east back past Excel and down to Beckton, then west again past
ExCel and Canary Wharf and on to Westminster. Turning at
Westminster and coming east again back to Beckon and turning for the
last time there before coming back to the ExCel Centre to change from
the bike to the run. This is me on the first loop coming back from Canary Wharf to head back past the ExCel Centre and down to Beckton. It was about 09:30 at this stage and already getting pretty warm... |

| But despite the
heat, I have to admit that being able to cycle right into the heart of
London on closed roads, really was quite a treat. Despite having to dodge a couple of unwary road crossing tourists, I actually quite enjoyed this section. The ride through the Limehouse Link tunnel was good fun both ways. Turning at Westminster gave me quite a lift, knowing that I was turning for home and was now over half way through the bike section. And cycling behind the Savoy, where Mum used to work, made me peddle harder and reminded me why I was out here doing all this.
