Asnoth: Island 13 Sacla South of the Shin bay in Nall. Home of the Ilvi, the Outcasts of Nall. Local uprising in 231 made it independent. Now politically protected by Thra as of the decree in 268.
Colmu Largest of the Dogon Empires in the West before the Great War. It was ruled by a local democracy, with the court as it highest institution. Due to problems with the Pachal, starting in -855 to -758, it lost a lot of it's pride, starting a downward spiral that would lead to the Exodus during the Great War.
Dinn Independent kingdom in Bay of Baghe. Because of it's independence a lot of Alden treaties were sealed at Dinn's High Seat. It's political importance does not prevent it from being dependent of the whim of Alden.
El'vaGurac, Cui Sosi, Halfbloods. A race akin to humans, and indistinguishable at childhood. Distinct characteristics, like the triangular earlobes en the oily eyes, begin to show at puberty. El'va is a T'rnan word and only used by the T'rnan El'va.
Heru: Last of the Greyath of Niala. His death lead to both the independence of Niala from the Lung, and the Great War. His death was the indirect result of years of human oppression by the Lung.
Iageth: Small, vicious carnivores. Especially known for their strange sound and large underground fortresses, these animals are often used for their excelent smell. They, however are not as easily trained as a dog. Native to the Eastern forests, these creatures now are becoming a true plague in Romte due to import from Kell.
Thua Theroba: The sacred thuigh tree in Misua, according to legend Tar and Mitsua first met under this tree, long before the War.
However she tried, the feeling stayed, like ierth wriggling in her stomach. She didn't know why or how or when the skin would start peeling again, but it would, sooner or later. The pain would be there as well, cringing up and down her spine. She took the knife from the table. Better to kill the ierth, before it killed her.
Rinn is a fantasy world created by Jeroen Hendrickx, though he prefers calling it "low-tech sci-fi". This site is the electronic result thereof.
Niala was ruled by the Lung for hundreds of years. Perhaps thousands. That humanity would sooner or later revolt was so obvious it could have been called a fact. That they would succeed at overthrowing the entire empire was expected by none but the ignorant. Sometimes the ignorant are right however.
--Shail al Cail, historian.
How Alden was founded: As Romte and Cail were disputing about forming an alliance, due to the fast spreading threat of the young empire Ternan, Larc started negotiating as well, in the end becoming the leading state in the resulting Alden Empire. Alden was officially founded in 0 (Alden Timeline) but had to wait for it's first ruler Linegh Candelc.
The Laithan conflict originated some years after Alden was formed, when Laith was given the choice of either joining the alliance or being invaded. The timing could have been worse for Alden, since the Inser of Laith had died during Cold Winter. So, after a conference of the Laith High Council (by which, ironically, the Alden Council was inspired), that lasted for 11 days, Laith agreed to the Alden Terms. But never, ever would they believe th lie that was Alden.
It is a sorry tale, as tales tend to be, stretching back in the past, to a time when the animals could talk...
Menayal al Amien Telanas: Current Ruler of Alden. Only child to the marriage of Magler Telanas and Amien al Ellan Tasath. Her mother died at childbirth, her father died of old age when she was still a child. Raised a queen, Menayal was forced into the role at a very early age, at a very hard time.
Unfortunately, the Blood of Old Dura isn't running in her veins.
The origins of Ternan are as absurd as they are sudden. In 11 BF the Halfbloods founded an Empire in the span of a day and a night. It spreaded like pestilence thereafter, and were it not for the foundation of the Alden Empire, the West would have fallen to the Halfbloods. To this day, and ever before, and ever after, they are our sworn enemies, defying nature, carrying blood of demons. They are to be rooted out.
-- Antern of Cynnc
For years we prayed, hoping,
but the curse did come,
like a ierth crawling down your back,
unnoticed.
Cono Lo Coma: One o the most notable among the High Seats of Culmu, Cono Lo Coma was the first Dogon Empress ever to declare a War with the Foreign Races. Under her Rule thousands of Dogon marched to War against East-Terla. After she was assasinated in -451 the last peak in Dogon civilization was over. The Exodus was due to arrive.
Circular, the continent of Rinn seems to be a broad, jagged ring, biting your finger once you put it on. Around it lies the Outer Sea, in the middle lies the Inner Sea.
Have I ever wronged you in a way. Have I threatened you? Tortured and mangled you? Have I put sour wine in your cup? Have I spilled milk on your vest? Tell, my son, where I wronged, so I can enter Cadenn with dignity.
-- From the Play, "A Queen's Death"

Magler Telanas: A legend in his own lifetime, the General-Ruler of Alden was already of age when he succeeded his sister Dura (not counting her son Thigh, who indeed kept the throne of Alden for almost a year at the time). He was one of the most respected of rulers, perhaps only second to his grandfather Renten. Sadly Magler became senile three years before he died.

The Nature of Things
Rinn is an ancient world, showing signs of amnesia, slowly crumbling under it's own weight. The Caer al Caeann, the Road that guides the End, lies open. The World walks it slowly now, fulfilling prophecy after prophecy.
A Brief Introduction
Why Everything?
I started this world project now almost four years ago. For those of you not familiar with fantasy and science fiction, what you'll find here is a fictional world, or, at least, the indispencable guide to the fictional world, I am working on.
Why? Because it's fun, that's why. But it has grown, slowly, in such a way, that it's now time I need some feedback. To double-check every line of text I jotted down in the last four years. To make it believable and more rounded out.
Soon on a Screen near You
The first thing that you'll find here will be the first draw of the Rinn Encyclopedia. Actually, it's still being written at this very moment. It will appear on the Dutch version of this site as soon as it's (somewhat) finished and I'll start working on the translation soon after. The map will appear by the beginning of the new century probably. (Update: although the new century has already begun, this promise hasn't been changed. In this way, uploading the map to late would be really hard :)
Who? Me?
Student in Germanic languages, more specifically English and Dutch (hence the "poetic freedom" in my English syntaxis), currently 18 years of age, named Jeroen Hendrickx, Belgian, I am constantly trying to find ways to keep me from thinking straight. Alcohol seems to be the obvious solution.
For those of you (a minority, I know) who have been dropping by regularly, and haven't found any updates recently, blame Mandragon, the other site project I'm working on.
