- On the occasion of the 11^th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il’s historic inspection to Panmunjeom -

 

Leader Kim Jong Il who shouldered the destiny of the fatherland and nation inspected the Panmunjeom Mission of the Korean People's Army at the forefront line on 24 November, 1996.

Leader Kim Jong Il left the footprints of the sacred leadership at Panmunjeom was a great event that showed off the unshakable faith and will and the matchless grit and pluck of the general of Mt. Baekdu to realize without fail the lifelong intention of President Kim Il Sung, father of the nation, who devoted his all to the country’s reunification till the last moments of his life.

At Panmunjeom he first looked round the monument to the President’s autography and said that the historic document that the fatherly leader signed in the last period of his life was the one related to the issue of the national reunification, at the time, too, the President read out the thick document till late at night and wrote his august name with master-stroke and the date “1994. 7. 7”.

That day leader Kim Jong Il who found himself again in front of the monument to the President’s autography after climbing the Panmun Pavilion said resolutely that we should reunify the country without fail true to the President’s wish and will, he had the intention to reunify the country without fail within our generation in accordance with the President’s behest, and the President said that the biggest gift he could give the people was the national reunification and he had the intention to present the national reunification to the people for sure.

These meaningful sayings of leader Kim Jong Il in front of the monument to the President’s autography were the declaration of his firm volition to bestow the national reunification upon our people at an early date true to the President’s behest and rendered unlimited self-confidence and inspiration for the reunification to the fellow countrymen, and the dreadful shock and fear to the separatists at home and abroad.

The undying feats of leader Kim Jong Il who opened up the bright vista of the national reunification before the 3,000-ri of the fatherland frozen with division and confrontation and majestically put up Panmunjeom, the symbol of division, as the symbol of reunification through the inspection tour to Panmunjeom will shine forever along with the history of the nation.

Apart from Kim Jong Il’s inspection to Panmunjeom it is unthinkable of the sublime reality where such wonderful successes and dramatic events in the development of the inter-Korean relations and the movement for national reunification as the historic Pyongyang meetings in June of 2000 and October of 2007 and the adoption of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration take place.

Witnessing the enormous changes and miraculous reality brought about by the June 15 era of independent reunification the south Korean people from all walks of life are positively supporting and defending the Songun politics of leader Kim Jong Il and more dynamically waging the movement for anti-US independence and national reunification with the unswerving conviction that the new dawn of reunification will surely come thanks to Kim Jong Il.

 

 

 

△ Protesting Actions

- On November 9, civic organizations including the Solidarity for Realizing the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration held the 172^nd Friday rally against the US and war and for the withdrawal of the US troops in front of the US embassy in Seoul.

Speakers there condemned the US for forcing the strengthening of the war-alliance upon the south Korean authorities and the undisguised revelation of its plot to eternally occupy south Korea at the recent “annual security consultative meeting”, and called for all-people struggle for implementing the June 15 joint declaration, setting up the peace mechanism on the Korean Peninsula without the US and accelerating the independent reunification.

- On November 13, civic organizations including the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country’s Reunification and the People for Peace and Reunification held the 98^th anti-US solidarity rally around the US embassy in Seoul.

Published at the rally was a resolution titled “Let us abolish the aggressive alliance countering the realization of peace in the Korean Peninsula”.

The resolution called for breaking off the aggressive alliance countering the realization of peace on the Korean Peninsula and the struggle to drive the US troops out of south Korea to the last.

- On November 13, in Daechu-ri, Pyongtaek City of Kyonggi Province, a rally opposing and denouncing the ground-breaking ceremony for expansion of the US Pyongtaek military base was held.

Participating there were members of different civic organizations including the All-people Measure Committee to Check the Expansion of the US Pyongtaek Military Base, the People for Peace and Reunification, peace activists and Daechu-ri citizens.

The participants denounced the construction of aggression bases of the US troops in different parts of south Korea, as well as in the Pyongtaek area, which destroy the people's base of life and threaten their right to existence, and appealed to the people of different social standings to turn out in the struggle to restore the peasants’ base of life.

They held the placards written as “The US troops, leave this land!”, “We cannot give the US troops even a small plot of the farmers’ land!” chanting such slogans as “We oppose the expansion of the US military base!”.

 

△ Statements published

- On November 8, the People for Peace and Reunification made public a commentary denouncing the outcome of the 39^th south Korea-US “annual security consultative meeting” aimed at strengthening the aggressive alliance.

The commentary strongly denounced the results of the meeting concluded in favor of realizing the aggressive demand of the US contrary to the tendency for independence and peaceful reunification.

- On November 12, the All-people Measure Committee to Check the Expansion of the US Pyongtaek Military Base made public a statement denouncing the south Korean authorities’ subordinate actions of aligning themselves with the plots of the expansion of US military bases.

The statement noted that the US has shipped nukes and other killing hardware in large quantity and aggression forces into this land and run amuck in the war moves and no peace can be possible with presence of the US troops, emphasizing the need to more vigorously conduct the struggle to expel the US troops.
