as the chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission.
The election of Kim Jong Il to the chairmanship of the
DPRK National Defence Commission!
That is a state post of heavy
responsibility which President Kim Il
Sung entrusted to Kim Jong Il
after the supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army in conformity with
the unanimous desire of the Korean people and the urgent requirements of the
time.
Leader Kim Jong Il is the peerlessly great man who clarified the original Songun
theory and created the epochal pattern of politics which organically combines
the politics with military affairs.
During the whole course of the
revolutionary leadership spanning tens of years leader Kim Jong Il has reliably consolidated the defense power of the country
by the great Songun idea and leadership and led the struggle for the national
prosperity and reunification to victory.
Throughout the human history
there is no such a great statesman and outstanding military strategist as
leader Kim Jong Il who has controlled
not only the national defence affairs but also the overall revolutionary cause in
an integral manner and led them to the brilliant victory.

DPRK into an invincible military power that no one dares to provoke.
Under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il the Korean People's Army has
grown up into an army strong in ideology and faith as the army of the Party,
the leader and the supreme commander in reality as well as in name and matchless
ever-victorious revolutionary armed forces equipped with the up-to-date defensive
and offensive means.
The single-minded unity of the
DPRK adamantly cemented under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il serves as an almighty weapon to resolutely smash the US
imperialists¡¯ moves to stifle the DPRK and a powerful driving force in building
a great thriving nation.
The Songun politics of leader Kim Jong Il, consistent with the
principle of national independence and the country-loving and nation-loving
spirit, has brought about a tremendous change to our people's struggle to
achieve the national reunification and develop the country¡¯s external relations.
Under the banner of Songun the
historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, a landmark for Korea¡¯s reunification,
came into being, the DPRK¡¯s external relations underwent rapid expansion and development,
the international solidarity to our revolution
and the country¡¯s external prestige were remarkably enhanced and the pride and
dignity of Juche Korea are splendidly demonstrated throughout the world.
Indeed, Kim Jong Il is the symbol of the dignity and might of the country
and the nation and the banner of victory.
Holding in high esteem Kim Jong Il, the great strategist and
the iron-willed brilliant commander, on the highest post of the Korean revolutionary
armed forces is the greatest fortune and happiness of the Korean nation.
Today the south Korean people keenly
feel the outstanding leadership qualities and the great characters of leader Kim Jong Il through their experiences
and witnessing and are further convinced that he is in actuality the savior of the
destiny of our nation and the great leader of the nation whom the 70 million
fellow countrymen follow and uphold forever.
