July 2003 Raven Rock
Ran car no 154 on the road and completed 4 great stages brfore we decidee to pull out. We could have kept going but decided not to chance it as there was a rattle from the enging while ticking over. Turned out to only be a shell bearing. This has been fixed now.
June 2003
First event 2003 did not go too well with the new engine. Could not get the car to run with sustained revs above 5000rpm the problem was found to be due to the rotor in the distributor. We didnt know that on the day and bought a new Luminition and coil at a cost of 250euro. We could only manage to finish the first stage and then on the second stage it cut out again and we were out. Feb 2003
The Ford 1600 cross-fow engine we had in the car went up in smoke last December at the Killarney historics. This year instead of putting another cross-flow engine in we decided to go Japanese... We got a front wheel drive Toyota Corolla Twin Cam GTI-16 high torque engine and we are fitting it in to our escort. This is alot of work converting a front wheel drive engine and making it but in the long term we hope it will be worth it. We should gain on reliability and a small bit on power..
