Welcome to Lane End Dream Team 2004/05.
It’s been a long summer. Euro 2004 was an interesting but ultimately disappointing distraction for a couple of weeks but we’re back and this year we are bigger and better than ever. We have a brand new website, some brand new managers but most importantly bigger prizes as we welcome some new managers for Dreem Teem V. We have reached our fifth season and we have grown with each passing year. The first season was 2000/01, the original number of entrants was 4 but it swelled to 9 once word spread. The original four were Andrew Barnes, Andrew Bowler, Chris Andrews & Neil Perry, all still manage sides this very day. The five additional entrants in the inaugural season were Paul Holliman, Yvonne Barnes, Lisa Barnes, Jason Giles & Nick Perry. The honours were taken by Yvonne Barnes first time around and she scooped the first prize of £200. The second year the numbers were boosted to 16 by a couple of other managers plus the fact that some managers opted to enter two sides. Paul Holliman was the winner second time around and walked away with £300. The third season again saw the numbers increase, there were 28 teams entered in overall by 20 managers, 8 managers entering 2 teams. The prize fund was the biggest ever and prizes were awarded for the first five positions. Louetta Cyrus became the third winner winning £500, 2nd place and £250 went to Ben Richards, 3rd place and £150 to Andrew Barnes, 4th place and £100 to Chris Andrews and James Richards finished fifth winning £50.
There were a few complications with managers entering two teams so the rules changed and managers were only allowed to enter one side, this along with the banning of a few managers made it a little easier to collect the money. A few managers changed but the number of entrants stayed the same at 20 and there was still a substantial prize pot at the end of the season. Andrew Barnes was the winner this time, the dreem teem organiser winning the top prize for the first time and £400 as well, Neil Perry was second with £200, Wayne Eldridge 3rd with £125 and Chris Andrews 4th and £75. This summers Euro 2004 tournament was won by Neil Perry who’s Blackpool trip was part funded by his £120 winnings, Paul Holliman came 2nd taking £50.
The rules are much the same as last year, there’s a slight change in the scoring as midfielders are now awarded 2 points if their side keeps a clean sheet but the rest stays the same, the matches that count are the Premiership, Carling Cup, FA Cup, UEFA Cup and Champions League. There are two transfer windows again this season so use them well, this is where the title could well be won and lost and could be the difference between a week in Majorca or a week in Mablethorpe.
Thanks for entering, there is serious money up for grabs here, good luck to everyone.
