My friends call me Magpie; they have done so since childhood, partly because then I chattered like a magpie (a habit I grew out of) but mainly because of my delight in collecting interesting things. My greatest love (next to my husband, children and dog) is Native American Art and Crafts. I love the use of natural objects and the feeling that goes into the making of them. I paint and draw myself, and enjoy all types of needle craft, spending many happy hours creating things for the home and family, although I find it difficult to stick to someone else’s pattern, it is much more fun designing my own. We also get a lot of pleasure Buckskinning. For those who have no idea what this is I will explain. Buckskinning is camping as the Mountain men, frontiersmen and Native Americans did in 1840’s America. Costume and tents or ti-pi’s have to be authentic to that time. We make most of the equipment, it’s a kind of historic re-enactment, and you will find many web sites that can explain more fully.
Our three children have all grown up, left home, and have families of their own. thankfully strong, healthy and sensible, as are our grandchildren, one a teenager the others fast heading that way.
Unfortunately a nasty kind of Arthritis started to attack me a few years ago, making me an occasional wheelchair user and a lot less active then I used to be. But over all I have been a very lucky person and life has been good to my family and me. My disability adds a new challenge and has definitely given me a different point of view on many things.
I get a great deal of pleasure from my computer and love making E-Mail friend from all over the world, we swap news, ideas and anything interesting. (Always the Magpie)
