Dr. Hasbeen - Final Flight. Dr H is the birthright of Martyn Needham. This lifelong Hawkwind fan and member of numerous other past bands including Spacehead inaugurated the development and design of his own space rock band to produce some fine music. Although crew have come and gone, they are left immortal in the footprints of Dr Hasbeen, throughout the galaxy and beyond. The ever changing faces of the ship have cast nothing but iridescent spectra that radiate through time and infinity. Their reflections shall always be present in the music that they created, they have shared their soul in the perpetual motion that is Dr Hasbeen. This track from the live CD, "Powered By Beer".

The Mother Of All Bands features Ron Tree (ex Hawkwind 1995-2002) and Judge Trev Thoms (Inner City Unit), and their musical pasts are in the melting pot of this band's style, but with a lot of fresh new ingredients thrown in too! This album is brilliant and I was lucky enough to receive a copy from the band to keep to myself. The band are looking for a deal and I honestly think fans of Ron and Trev will simply love this and so too will anyone else looking for something fresh, edgy and wild. If we all make enough noise to the companies who knows?

Litmus - The Temple (live). Litmus are a collection of throbbing bass, pounding drums, searing guitar, swirling keyboards and screeching electronics. Litmus have supported Hawkwind, Space Ritual, the Ozric Tentacles and Arthur Brown. In January 2005, they were the tour support for Julian Cope on his UK tour. Their debut CD You Are Here, released on Space Music, has received massively positive reviews. They are now recording a second CD "Planetfall" for release on Rise Above Records in February 2007. Acousticat are an antidote to loud musical stylings. An acoustic trio, just Kev, Chris and Amy. An acoustic guitar, a fiddle and some harmonicas. Gigs are very relaxed affairs, with the band sat down, swapping anecdotes and blues riffs. For larger festival appearances the band expands to acousticatz, encompassing a myriad of talented musical friends. This song recorded live at Earthwise festival, 2006. It includes guests Nik Turner, Chris Cambridge, Mikky Cosmic, Andy Radburn and Chris Purdon.

Andyshades began live music as a songwriting busker in the mid 1980's and fronted the bands Backchoi, Drug Squad, Mutant Squid, Rainbow Bridge and Tranceform. Giving up bands in the late 1990's for travelling musical adventures in the great beyond he played venues in Thailand, Laos, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Germany and the beaches of Gomera. From then on gigs and recordings have been a collaboration of musicians from every continent in a truly spontaneous form with no strict line up and totally free expression. So the concept of 'Us' was born. This track from the CD "Shades Of Us".

FEW bands can boast the far-reaching appeal and influence of Hawkwind, uniting the support of the leather-clad rock fraternity with the crusty travelling hordes of Hippydom (and all those who stand some-where in between). Huw's repertoire covers a variety of styles, ranging from the harder side of rock to the kind of spaced-out psychedelic guitar work he is probably best remembered for from his Hawkwind days. His association with other well-known musicians reads more like a Who's Who Guide of popular music. This track is from the DVD "Live in Walthamstow, 2002".

3. Mr John Toon reads extracts from "Sci-Fi" Steven Palmer's book, "Hallucinating". Part 1.(4.09).

Stephen Palmer's novel, Hallucinating, was originally intended to be an exclusively online publication, targeted at the festival music crowd, until Sean Wallace of Cosmos Books had the vision to publish. It is a story with all the characteristic Palmer themes of not so distant future devastation, but with plenty to satisfy festie psych music fans.

The story takes place in Britain in the year 2049, after a not so typical alien invasion leaves the urban landscape near lifeless, and the countryside struggling to survive and rebuild. The main character is Nulight, an acid casualty and pagan, famed as the head of the Voiceoftibet record label. We learn that Nulight was born in Tibet, his mother a Welsh hippie who went there and married a native. Apparently the aliens had been plotting for years because Nulight had a close encounter in his youth. Or did he? His mother tells him the aliens are probably a hallucination and Nulight wonders if that's true. It was easy to accidentally pick up acid or mushrooms in our house. So I kind of grew up wondering if they were real or a hallucination. The book is available to buy from HERE

4. Bare Bones Corporation - Every Robot (05:08) Bare bone Corporation is the latest musical outpouring of Niall Hone, probably best known for his Bass playing on the early Mandragora Lp's.

Tom has been producing music privately for a number of years; "The Last Druids" and "The Eye of the Cyclone CD's are single concept works that are designed to take the listener on a musical journey - in the first case, ancient Britain at thhe dawn of the Dark Age. Another facet to author Steven Palmer. ‘Flight Of The Dub Voyager’ is something from the Mooch archives, namely this full-length album recorded in 1996. It comprises of a single fifty-seven minute track split into 12 sub-sections. It was recorded over two sessions, with five musicians, and it’s described by the band as “a psychedelic patchwork of ambient rock that would transport the listener to the fantasyland of the good ship ‘Dub Voyager’ – the band’s favorite album of the period

The UK Festival scene has yet more secrets to reveal, and one of the best kept secrets has to be Nukli, a band who have circulated many tapes on the underground circuit, featuring key Ozric Tentacles' members amongst their ranks. They eventually released an album (The Time Factory) when the Delerium team sniffed them out of their secret bunker on Salisbury plain. From Norwich, UK. Harmonic frequencies, soundwave resonations and rhythms are in us all and, at all times, surround us completely. Jerry is the guitarist with festival faves Kangaroo Moon.. It is he that plays the rather wonderful psychedelic guitar on the "Between two Worlds CD. Here we have Jerry in mellow acoustic mood, from his latest solo demo.

The full-on 1970's Hawkwind experience - light show, smoke, dancers, hypnotic rhythms and soaring leads - The Assassins of Silence deliver like no one else. With a set list ranging from 1969 to 1993 and a visual presentation situated firmly in the Space Ritual era they provide a space rock experience to ensnare the senses and transport the mind to the furthest reaches of the Andromeda galaxy. Xoo is the (currently) solo project of Assassins guitarist Kevin Perry. One day, he might actually be able to find a band willing to play it and inflict the music on people in a live environment...

The nucleus of UZ� was started in 1979 by Andrew Rix (bass/vocals), Adrian Rix (keyboards) and Judi Griggs (vocals). Probably best known for the classic Never Reach The Stars LP on Flicknife Records in 1984 and their inclusion in the Hawkwind Friends And Relations LP's. Well after a break of 11 years, the classic 1985 line up is back! They've reprocessed ten of their most popular tracks (including this one) - to make them sound more '21st century' - and produced a new compilation CD, Powerplay The CD is available from the bands website or Aural Innovations.

Hearing becomes heightened,the pupils dilate... the brain craves more information than it's sight reliant senses can give. Suddenly 3 million years of evolution vanish... the fight/flight response, from the primitive sections of our brain kick in. Where is the greater dark?... Without, or within?

Litmus were formed in 1999 by Martin (bass, vocals) and Simon (guitar, vocals). . Andy (keyboards, synth) joined to add keyboards at gigs, but it was a lot of work for one man. So Matt (audio generator) joined (Andy's brother). And then Anton (synth, audio generator) in 2002 Marek (drums, vocals) completed this line up in 2003.

Sloterdijk pronounced slO-ter-dike, is a Dutch word, which can be translated to mean "endpoint". SLOTERDIJK is a Hawkwind inspired spacerock project led by Mike Burro. The band plays sets which employ psychedelic 'ambient trance' as well as full tilt percussive electronica and heavy metallic guitar workouts This song is a postulation about Fred Goldman's moustache and it's relevance as a media object

14.49.56 Screeper - Can Fever . The Autons are the new band of former Screeper front man, David Jones. Autons' maverick style mixes modern technology with classic songwriting. The set will include one or two Screeper songs such as this, their first single, Can Fever, which was played numerous times by John Peel on BBC Radio 1.

16. 54.45 Gobber And The Monsters From The Id. Gobber is probably best known for his part of Timeshard, ambient electronic pioneers. Before this he was in Festival favorites Radio Mongolia who gained some notoriety by sending their contribution to the excellent "Travelers Aid Trust" LP on cassette with a Sugarcubes LP recorded on the other side. Check out the song (that isn't) "Johnny Briggs" and hear Bjork on Backing vocal! This rather top tune is a live edit from a gig.

Cybermonkey comprises the efforts of Lisa Turner, Tad Winklarz and Marlon Kempmann. Though categorization is never pretty at the best of times; Cybermonkey can be referred to as 'Progressive World Ambi-Groove' in styling (without being overly offensive to anyone). The music lends itself to a personal atmosphere, to the other arts, or as a soundtrack to life. This track from their CD "Karma Wheels", details of how to purchase on their website.

Years ago Judge Trev was known as Trev Thoms. He has recorded and played with Inner City Unit, Bob Calvert, Pinkwind, Steve Peregrine Took, and The Atomgods amongst others. He has played with lots of artists including : Opal Butterfly , Graham Bond, Ray Morrison (Foundations), Count Prince Miller , Gregory Isaacs, Mickey Finn's T.Rex, The Spiders, Nik Turner's Fantastic All Stars, and probably others which he can't remember. Mr. Dibs was a founder member of legendary space-rock outfit Krel. Spacehead formed in 1994, originally as a solo project, but with great interest in the first cassette release, Mr.Dibs was inspired to put a full band together, and four more cassettes followed. Hidria Spacefolk are a Finnish Spacerock band formed in the Hiidenlinna community in 1999.

The Finnish psychedelic space rock band Dark Sun was formed in 1991. In the beginning they called themselves The Echoes, then The Mythagos Wood. There were even a few other options, before the rather mysterious and polarized Dark Sun was chosen in '92.

At first they draw their influences from a whole range of different musical styles like metal, 60' and 70's rock, alternative, psychedelia, gothic, punk etc. Soon they realised that their mission was to fill Finland, Europe and the whole universe with psychedelic space rock. This track comes from their CD, "Ice Ritual", which features a guest by Space Ritual's Nik Turner.

The Alien Dream project was conceived by Michael W. Blackman in 1994. Michael was born in Vancouver Canada - then moved and grew up in Australia until his 13th
birthday. He spent the rest of his teenage years living in the United States of America.
Michael currently resides in Australia where he both writes and arranges the music of
Alien Dream and paints abstract artwork.

Founding band members Kidd, Ray, and Hardy have worked together in many musical guises off and on since 1983. In '91 they started what was initially a "recording only" project using the new name of "Mr. Quimby's Beard", producing 4 albums worth of material during the next two years. The band have toured America, supported Hawkwind and recorded 5 CD's. They continue to play and record their own unique brand of spacerock from their base in Sunderland, UK. This track recorded live in 2005, especially for Magiccatradio.

A young band from Edinburgh, Scotland provide a song to finish the Spring Equinox Radioshow.

2. Instant Flight -Running Around. .London based pop-psychedelia featuring great guitar from Marco Magnini and soaring keyboards from Lucie Rejchrtova. The band also play as Arthur Browns electric backing band, as witnessed at Hawkfest 2003 and Southsea folk & roots festival, 2004 (with MagicCat, voted best gig of the festival). This track is from their forthcoming 1st LP, recorded at Garry Ramon's Sundial Studio.

3. Space Ritual - D-Rider. For those who dont know, Space Ritual crew is :.Nik Turner - sax, flute and vocal, Terry Ollis - drums and his son Sam Ollis on drum kit No.2, Dave Anderson - bass, Mick Slattery - guitar, Thomas Crimble - guitar, Del Dettmar (When possible!) - signals and noises, Jim Hawkman - synths, plus friends! The pedigree of thhese great musicnaughts is beyond reproach. Just to show they still cut it as a live band here is a brand new live version of the classic D-rider, from their CD "Live In The Venusian Galaxy". Cool flute!

7. Zachariah Toadstool - Blue Sky Blues Psychedelic punk from band formed 20 years ago in Kirkudbright, Scotland, and still going strong. This track from the CD "Shambling & Middleaged, Live at the Wickerman 2004".

10. Andy Cooper - Lucky Again Brother of Fawcett regular Brian, turned up at a Songs From The Wood Open Mic Night and performed this beautiful song..

11. Chris Hopgood - L'il Law Breaker Guitarist in Acousticat, Arlen and Lady Winwoods Maggot here performs a solo track recorded in his home studio.

13. Bubbledubble - Ersa Minor Electronic dub, as witnessed live at the Gong Unconvention at Glastonbury, UK., from the CD Live at Glastonbury, 2004.

15. The Acid guitar King - Death March From Pennsylvania, USA, Mike Wingate is tha Acid Guitar King. All of the songs on his Cd's are one-take stoned jams. This track from the compilation CD "Whats Up Mutants", which also features Burning Wood and The Far Look amongst others

2. The Valles Brothers Band - Aeroplane. Stoner rock from Brownsville, Texas. This track comes from the CD, Valles Brothers II. Guitarist Joe Valles also hosts a psychedelic radioshow and psych/prog bands who wish to be played should email him.

3. Firegarden - Eden. Authentic, original 70's style rock played by a bunch of twenty-somethings from Sheffield, UK. Constantly touring, catch them live, they rock! This track from the CD "2164".

5. Zachariah Toadstool - Deforest Kelley Of Arden Psychedelic punk from band formed 20 years ago in Kirkudbright, Scotland, and still going strong. I jammed a little harp with them during their set at Wickerman, 2004. This track from the CD "Down In The Garden".

6. The One Eyed Bishops - Shorty George American Mike Burro is The One Eyed Bishop and he makes music with his multitude of musical chums. This song recorded live during Mikes Summer tour of the UK at the RMA Tavern, Portsmouth. The line up is Mike Burro (guitar and vocals), Kev Ellis (harp), Dan Tilbury (drums), Bob Taylor (bass) and Phil Smith (lead guitar)

8. Acousticat - kiffcat blues A live jam recorded at The Florence Arms, Southsea, summer 2004, after a very enjoyable Red Wine afternoon in my back garden. Amy Burrett ( playing fiddle) joining myself and Chris. A studio Acousticat Cd is at present being recorded.

10. Superczar - The Flight From the US, Brian Fowler/Follicle is a man of many, wonderous musical bands. Here with Superczr (who, together with the Valles Brother supported Nik Turner at a recent US show) he plays a mean blues guitar. Is that a theramin I hear?

12. Neil Forbes & Bill Newsinger - Big Red Van A first came across Neil naked, standing on a pair of his dad's underwear at an outdoor Dr Brown gig. Apparently Bill used to play bass for Paul Weller. Still, he's better now.

15. Sonic Arcana - Sonic 1 Andy Radburn is Sonic Arcana, the guardian keeper of the analog vaults.

Recorded at The BBC Maida Vaille Studio,London. Kev (Voc/harp), Pete (Voc/percussion), Andy (Keyboards), Jason (Keyboards), Al (Bass), Grunt (guitar), Steff (guitar), Rick (Drums). I rate this as my fave Dr Brown recordings. Unfortunately, not all the band agreed and Dr Brown disbanded shortly after this!
