PARANORMAL ASSISTANCE

As part of her work for the church, Kathryn provides a service to anyone experiencing Paranormal problems. Offering help with Spirit Rescue work, removal of unpleasant energies from a building or home, Spirit Manifestation and Poltergeist activity.

SPIRITUAL HEALING

An overview of Spiritual Healing

There is a tendency for people to think that Spiritual Healing is only done through the faith or belief of the person requiring this form of Healing. This is not true! A child or even an animal, does not know what faith or belief is and yet, they receive Spiritual Healing in the same way as anyone else.

If a faith or a belief is required then this could be termed only as Faith Healing and this need not necessarily have a Spiritual context behind it. The only requirement a patient should have is a respect for themselves and a positive attitude towards their own well being.

Spiritual Healing requires no faith or belief whatsoever on the part of the patient seeking it; nor is it a requirement that the patient needs to possess the same belief as that of the Spiritual Healer administering the Healing.

Spiritual Healing is carried out in accordance with the philosophy and teachings of Spiritualism. The actual Healing itself is one of a Spiritual nature and this has an effect on all levels within the person. I.e. mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.

A Spiritual Healer administers Healing with this knowledge and through this realises the importance of their role as a channel for the Healing energies.

The Spiritual Healer is only a channel for the Healing energies and as such cannot direct or influence what is a natural process. The Healer should help the patient to realise that they, the patient, are also responsible for assisting the Healing process as the patients general attitude can and does have a great effect on the quality of Healing they receive.

Two main methods are available. These are;

• CONTACT HEALING where the Spiritual Healer places their hands either on or near the patient.
• ABSENT HEALING where the patients are not physically present but Healing thoughts are extended to them.

No massage or manipulation is used during Contact Healing and no patient is asked to remove any clothing, except for maybe an overcoat, or glasses and hearing aids for safety reasons. (See below for further details of Spiritual Healing).

All Healers used in the church are members of the Healer Practitioner Association. All have an ID card, which they should carry with them and you are invited to inspect their card that will show their qualifications.

THE HISTORY OF MAIDSTONE INDEPENDENT CHRISTIAN SPIRITUALIST CHURCH

The early history of the Church is, to say the least, a bit vague. We know that it was started circa 1925 in a small room behind what was then The Central Cinema (now Boots the Chemist in King Street). It used a variety of venues including a room over The Lamb Public House. The Church moved to its present site in the 1950's and held services in a Nissen hut.

The founder of the present Church, Mrs Lillian Hamerton, had the church built. It was registered as a Place of Worship in April 1960 and Mrs Hamerton was the first President. Unfortunately, Mrs Hamerton passed to Spirit the following year. The membership then purchased the building from her Estate and, as far as we can tell, a Mrs New and Mrs Wright were elected to run the church.

Mr Bert Farley became the next President. He was followed by Mr David Jackett in his first term as President (five years). Miss A E Stone BEM then continued until December 1989, when Mr Jackett began his second term as President/Minister/Administrator. Mr Jackett passed to Spirit 1st October 2003. The Church postponed its AGM until 3rd February 2004 when Mrs Doreen Jackett was elected President.

The Minister of the Church is Mrs Debbie DeVito (CSSI) who is the Registered Authorised Person to conduct weddings and Mr William Bone (also a Minister of the CSSI) is the Deputy Registrar. They also undertake Christenings, Naming Ceremonies and Funerals.

The Church has two Vice-Presidents: Mr Rex Austin and Mrs Kathryn Smith.

Administrative Secretary: Mrs Kathryn Smith.
The Free Spirit Healing Group is affiliated to the HPAI.

The Church is Independent and is a Registered Charity in its own right.

SPIRITUALISM

Who are these mediums? They are highly sensitive people who have developed their psychic power - which each of us possesses to a greater or lesser degree - women’s intuition is an example. Some are born mediums; others take years to develop, while others through ignorance or lack of opportunity of development are unable to develop their gift.

The Christian Spiritualist Church bases its teachings and practices on the following:

• WE BELIEVE - In the Fatherhood of God and The Brotherhood of All Life.
• WE TEACH - That each individual is personally responsible for all actions and deeds be they good or bad. That any wrong doing can only be corrected by the individual concerned.
• WE ACCEPT - The Teachings and Example which was demonstrated By Jesus the Christ. That we will, at all times, try to Live by that example.
• WE KNOW - That communion with the Spirit World is possible. That Spirit Teachers and Healers return to the Earth Conditions to provide help for those who stand in need.

One’s religion is a very personal matter and anyone adopting Spiritualism is free to, and indeed should interpret the teaching according to their own awareness.

A major difference between Christian Spiritualism and the orthodox Christian Church is that while we accept the teaching and example set for us by Jesus Christ, we do not accept the dogma of the vicarious atonement. We believe and teach that each individual is responsible for every act of theirs, be it good or bad and that any act of wrongdoing can only be rectified by the person concerned.

If death were the end of everything, life would merely have a material motive, whereas the knowledge of a future existence gives life a spiritual motive and purpose beyond mere physical existence.

We are living in a material scientific age in which orthodox religion has lost its impact. Any religion therefore which can successfully overcome this material influence must be scientific and Spiritualism is just that.

It has turned the pious hope of a hereafter into a scientific fact. The advent of the spirit of man into this world and in the course of time, his transition to another world is a scientific fact proved by mediumship.

Religion has been defined as faith without science - and science as faith without religion. Spiritualism embodies science, faith and religion unfettered by dogma and creed.

As discussed above, Spiritual Healing is not faith Healing. Patients have been treated without their knowledge as by Absent/Distant Healing or through being too ill or young to understand.

We do not expect you to accept these things blindly, but we do invite you to prove our claim for yourself by visiting a Spiritualist Church and forming your own conclusions.

At Spiritualist church services, worship and teachings of Spiritualism forms a part of the service with the addition that the Medium endeavours to bring those on the other side who may wish to contact their relatives or friends who may be in the congregation.

This is the real meaning of the "Communion of Saints (Spirit) and the life Everlasting".
