Action Research Enquiry

in

Bath and North East Somerset

Enquiries and enquirers In Bath and North East Somerset a growing number of educators have been seeking to understand and improve their practice through action research approaches and many have been working with Jack Whitehead using a living educational theory approach. Jack describes a living educational theory approach to action research as 'one where individuals produce accounts or explanations of their educational influence in their own learning and the learning of others in enquiries of the kind, 'How am I improving what I am doing?' in contexts where they are seeking to live their values more fully in their practice.' There is also a growing interest in extending our understandings to how children and young people can be supported to engage in enquiries through similar processes to develop the skills and understanding of disciplined enquiry and to grow their understandings of themselves as life long learners able to contribute to, and benefit from society, and live satisfying and productive lives.
This site is intended to:
  • help like minded enquirers share what they have been doing
  • contribute to the development of a collaborative, inclusional, educational community
  • support learners achieve more than they might have thought possible
  • provide evidence of improving practice
