Alphabet and Writing Systems

Alphabet and Writing Systems

It all started when I learnt the Russian alphabet. Since then, I have become fascinated by foreign languages and particularly, foreign writing systems, from Greek and Cyrillic (Russian, Ukrainian, etc.), to Korean, Thai and other Asian scripts. I have even created my own alphabet, called 'Cyrillenic' - a kind of mixture of the terms 'Cyrillic' and 'Hellenic' (Greek) My interest in languages is mainly in European ones, particularly the lesser known, more eastern ones such as Polish, Hungarian and, say Finnish, Russian, etc. By the way, a fascinating website I know is www.omniglot.com. They have alphabets and wriing system from all the most exotic corners of the world, even ones that have long since disappeared from use. They even have made-up and alternative scripts such as Elvish - and... no, not "Elvish Preshley" if that's what your thinking!.
