7.0WIRE / Mauri / Trivia Mauri doesn't smoke. She says she hates it. And besides, it's bad for the health.      oh, and in case you're wondering, yes that's a      cigar in her hand (ttftkzzzt?) Her sporting roots are totally well founded. A few years back, her father played football for Perugia. And it has been said that Mauri's actually a pretty sound football player herself. collective gasp-- GOAL! (wtf?) When she started playing volleyball... She didn't start out as a setter but as an outside hitter. She   opted for the setter's position when she (and the coach) realised   that she's not as effective hitting. pause--- GOOOAAAAL! (wuh?) When Mauri was 15, she was appointed squad captain. But in that particular game, she lost five (FIVE!?!) balls, and in frustration, the coach told her that she'd never be captain again. She's a self professed music addict. Fact is, during international tourneys, you'd never     see her without her trusty DiscMan™...     And if anything, there'd sure to be tons of     CDs stashed in her luggage. like 100s. POCKET SHIFT: Mauri can't swim. Totally. All those years at the beach were spent more in the sand rather than in the water. Obviously, else she would've been playing water polo now rather than volleyball... This is sort of CUTE: Mauri loves cartoons. Be it American cartoons or even animè. Fact is, her interest in volleyball was     partly fueled by a volleyball cartoon show back in her youth.     Hurray for everyone who loves cartoons!!! HURRAY! Her favourite one is that famous Matt Groening primetime cartoon series about an American family called the Simpsons. Actually, she wants to see how she'd look like as one of the characters. Among the family, her favourite has got to be Bart. She just finds him very funny and     she even said that [if she has a son] she     would want someone like him. uh-huh. Generally, Mauri shies away from celebrity and the glitter of showbusiness. She's refused lucrative offers to pose nude; to star in a soap; and even in a movie. She's sticking it out with volleyball and the various product endorsements that come with it. Looks like, none for Pepsi though. B.i.o.N. but this energetic setter is actually as lazy as the next guy off-court. She admits to taking the lift even if she's only     going one floor up or down. Would it be justified if a building does      not have regular stairs, only fire exit ones? there's a thought. Sometimes, she worries that people admire her only because she is blonde and beautiful. Taking for granted the fact that strip down the beauty and the celebrity she will always remain a great volleyball player in her own right. Don't worry Mauri, we know that.
