7.0WIRE / Articles
/ Coach Bonitta

Take me to
your leader...
by the 7.0WIRE PEOPLE
There's a new guy in the Italian bench. He's a championship coach,
he has fresh ideas, he's going to lead the team to greatness. And
no, he's not Frigoni. His name is Marco Bonitta. Mainly, he's the
one responsible for Foppa's huge trophy collection. He took over the
Women's National Squad as Coach Frigoni went overseas to look after
the Dutch Nationals.
Along with him came a new set of staff and a new set of plans. Since
this year is not as hectic as before, he decided to shuffle the National
Team and give more playing time to the younger players. Apparently,
this is to avoid the important players (ie the volleyball superstars)
from suffering injuries. And also to expose the younger ones to the
rigors of international competition.
In theory, this seems like a good plan. But it could also be like
taking the others for granted. Like Mauri for example. She's having
a difficult time adjusting to the idea that she may not be called
to suit up for a tournament. Or if she is called, she may not be playing
as a starter but rather as a sub. She's not complaining though, she
trusts Coach Bonitta's judgment. After all, he's the coach and he
calls the shots. |
