First of all an apology for not updating this site for a few months but a new job, a new baby and associated medical matters, hopefully I'll catch up soon.
This is a site dedicated to the comings and goings at Cardiff Wales Airport near the village of Rhoose in the Vale of Glamorgan. I hope to be able to update it every few weeks but be patient if I don't always get the chance. I would like to thank everyone on the Severnside e-group for their help and encouragement.
Despite being a smallish regional airport we are lucky enough to get a high number of Holiday flights from most of the major charter companies, which often turn up some unusual visitors. In addition to this we have the British Airways Maintenance hangar where their fleet of 747's and 777's are serviced. I hope to update this site at least once a month. Also I've added a guestbook so if you feel inclined you can leave a message when you visit. Some new pictures this month. The Terminal building has been refurbished with a new entrance among other things and the car parking has been altered with the closure of the old short term car park in front of the terminal and a relocation to the main car park also there are apparently plans published in the Docks Office in Barry for a modernisation of Cardiff Wales Airport (more in the news section). The tragic events in America have seen armed Police patrols at the Airport and an increase in security. British Airways are still keeping some of their de-commissionined aircraft here. Yet again this month's logs have massive holes in them so if anyone has spotted anything on a visit and you feel like mailing me please do any sightings are appreciated. Last years logs have been archived into two pages to make room for the new years sightings and are still acessable from the Visitors page. The Winter schedules are now in operation with the only major change from last year being the Saturday ski flight to Innsbruck being changed from Tyrolean to Lauda Air. Now is a good time to see most of the resident club aircraft as they are all out of the hangar due to it's demolition including some rarely seen even by regular visitors, the storms of 27/10 also did some demolition work of their own, damaging a number of Flying Club Aircraft. On a sadder note a Cardiff flying club club aircraft crashed on 1/4/2002 near Cwmbran killing its two passengers our thoughts and condolences go out to their families. Finally a very big thank you to everyone who has helped with their logs it is very much appreciated.
The Big news is the recent announcement by BMIbaby that Cardiff is to be its second operating base more details on the BMI website more news on the news page. Visit the links page for links to Aviation websites full of useful information, free computer security and privacy downloads and a few other free things I come across on the web.
There is now a new e-group for spotters at Cardiff Airport which you can join at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CWLSpottersGroup
