Until recently the bunker remained hidden from general knowledge just as it had done during the early years of the War. This small website takes you on a tour of what is an eerie reminder of the days when the country was under threat of invasion: The Battle Of Britain.

At the present time, the bunker lies in a compound surrounded by what is basically a building site. New housing is being built on the compound, which used to be my place of employment: the Department of Social Security. Working there allowed interested parties to venture underground for impromptu tours on lunchbreaks.

It's also interesting to note that during the time I worked on the site there was a story going around that one of the employees, finding herself alone one night looked around to see a man dressed in an old RAF uniform staring at her. He allegedly walked out of view behind some cupboards, and when she followed there was no one there.

Once I'd heard this I was hooked...
