MOTORSPORTFORUM tips Solberg for 2003

WRC Posting - Motorsport Forum - 18th November '02

MOTORSPORTFORUM is tipping Petter Solberg to be a serious contender for the 2003 WRC title. After his assured performance in the last round of the 2002 season, Rally GB, the Norwegian looks set to make an even bigger impact next season.

Having come close to winning his first World Rally on several occasions so far this season, the Subaru driver has now finally broken his jinx. Having experienced what it takes to win a WRC event, a championship challenge is a natural progression for the rising star.

Of course, Solberg's ability to win the championship next season will depend heavily on the quality of car Prodrive produces next year. This year's Impreza was competitive and at times one of the few cars to seriously challenge Peugeot and particularly 2002 champion Gronholm. The question is whether their 2003 challenger can make the step up to compete with and beat Peugeot in the hands of Solberg.
