Why do we need a new playground? What happened to the old playground? How much will this cost? Who will pay for it? |

|       Following the All-Ireland Sheep-Shearing Championship in 1998 (held in the Sports Field) it was hoped to return the playground equipment to their original setting. However, the insurance company consulted with those involved and made it clear that the existing equipment was not of a satisfactory standard and would not be suitable for insurance.       The Sports Field Committee set up a sub-committee headed by Tom Flahive to investigate the availability and cost of replacing the equipment with newer insurance-friendly equipment. Also, within their scope of enquiry they pursued the methods and possibilities of outside funding, e.g. Government and Council grants etc.       The sub-committee had it confirmed that the existing equipment was not to the suitable standard and went about sourcing other equipment. | |
