Why do we need a new playground?

Moylough and the surrounding areas are growing rapidly. Many young families are setting up home in the area and naturally the number of children is growing year on year. The Sports Field has been a place where many of today's adults spent their formative years - be it playing football, soccer, camogie, tennis or just playing on the swings and slides with other children.

As was evident at the recent Community Games, in which hundreds of children took part, the lack of facilities for the younger children is a terrible blight on an otherwise excellent resource. And can make outings a real chore for the parents.

Also it is a safety issue; without an enclosed area for the youngsters to play in safely they tend to wander the grounds, into the car-park, or worse, outside onto the road.

Part of our plans include making the play-area enclosed and providing suitable picnic facilities so families can spend an afternoon relaxing in safe and pleasant environs. Wheelchair access is to be improved as well as general access to the grounds, making it pedestrian friendly with a concrete path around the entire grounds.
