Gerry McGurk, who was tragically taken from us in 2001.
We want you to hear the songs he wrote, see the pictures of him
and his(many, many) friends and keep you informed about
all things Mudskipper-ish(!?).
Mainly, we want you to know who he was.
Simple, really.
What
words can be said?
Gerry McGurk was one of the most
talented singer/songwriters I have ever had the good fortune to share
and play music with. This has become more apparent as I read his words
and (after such a long time) listen to the music he brought to the world.
That he is no longer with us and shall write no more is hard to
bear, he is gone and until we meet again, I will miss him.
With the pain and sense of loss, however, there
is a growing realisation that the people we share our lives with, those
we love and who are precious to us, are with us now, validate them,value
them, love them. I wish I had appreciated then,
Gerry's genius, talent, company and spirit as much as I miss it now. True
enough "…you don't know what you've got 'till it's gone…". If this website
and cd are about anything, let it be about remembering who we had in our
lives. Remember with joy, sadness, regret, tears,
anger, humour, but above all, love.
