THE PLAN

Last Few Updates:

We have returned! It feels pretty strange too. As far as this site goes, some thoughts about being back and later lots more pictures. Everybody I have bumped into so far wants to see them. I also want to see them. Most of the slides have been shipped to my Dad moments after a quick glance. So I have pretty much forgotten what was in the first three months.

Don't expect anything too quickly but keep an eye here over the next few months. I am planning on seperate pages for more images. The site may get moved somewhere with no advertising too.

The plan is flexible. Somewhat of a mantra and a disguise for the fact that..well..yup I admit it. The plan is, we have no plan! What we do have is a list of countries that we aim to visit. Things may change along the way. In fact they have already changed.

Due to the tsunami disaster in Asia our plan has moved. Our initial trip was to begin on the 16th of January 2005 by flying to Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka was hit very badly by the waves. We had a guesthouse booked. The idea being to cover the first few days until we found our feet. Then travel into the tea plantation areas in the mountains. After the news broke in the UK I attempted to contact the guesthouse to see if the people were ok. This was the reply.

After much deliberation we decided to skip Sri Lanka. As budget travellers, we were more likly to become a burden on the infrastructure. It was just too soon to go. The second country on our list is Thailand. Also hit by the tsunami. The original plan was to travel north to Chang Mai first. We were unlikly to visit the Tsunami effected areas until March 2005. So we re-planned and changed the route to start in India. We will assess the Thai section later on.

In the meantime, we urge anyone reading this to dig deep, and donate to one of the charities operating in the area. If you are in the uk, Just Giving run a tax efficient way of donating. We have used this system and it works well. Many of the charities working with disaster relief are supported. In addition UK charities are entitled to 28 percent tax reclaim from the Inland Revenue on every ? donated by UK taxpayers. This system automates it for the charity. You can read about some of the organisations involved in the tsunami disaster areas here: Where can I donate?

Please follow our journey with this blog and Sign our Guestbook. Have fun reading the pages and View other Guestbook entries. Sorry about the geocities advert. (I hate it too, it messes up my layout, but its part of this free system so we are stuck with it for now!).
