Synopsis

When your team has just lost thirteen nil, half the season is over and you haven't managed a single goal, let alone a league point, what do you do? Like any self-respecting manager, you do the same as Brian Flashman, of local youth football team, Brookton Supremes. You get on your hands and knees and start praying.

Enter, World Cup medal winner and notorious football legend, Harold Goodwood. With his high profile and a list of honours as long as his arm, it's as if Brookton's prayers have been answered. Here is perhaps the most famous football tactician in England, offering his services for free.

Too good to be true? Flashman thinks so, but try telling that to the board of directors. After all, who cares if Goodwood's tactics seem a little dubious? What does the odd hidden motive matter? And so what if he has a temper on him? Avoiding relegation is all that really matters, isn't it?

Life in Brookton is about to change in a big way. Here comes the team's biggest challenge yet - Harold Goodwood.
