NORTHERN COUNTIES CAT CLUB

PEDIGREE RESCUE

Northern Counties Cat Club runs an active and successful cat welfare scheme principally for the rescue and re-homing of pedigree cats, although non-pedigrees in need of help are never turned away. The driving force behind this scheme is Marion Evans, who co-ordinates the rescues, the fostering and the re-homing from her home in Bishop Auckland. The scheme is financed by the Club, from funds raised by the members. Fund raising is vital for the Cat Welfare to continue, and many varied events have taken place over the years, generating considerable sums of money. Much of the money raised is needed for veterinary fees, as many of the cats rescued require treatment of one sort or another before they can be re-homed.

Fund raising events over the last few years have included afternoon teas and Bring & Buy sales, barbeques and garden parties, sponsored walks, raffles and sales of work, and, most recently, car boot sales. The efforts and generosity of the members behind these events have ensured a steady flow of funds, but there is always a need for more. Marion and her supporters are always keen to hear from anyone with a good idea for fund raising, and those who take part can be sure to enjoy themselves.
