Centenary of St. Bede's
The year 2008 completed 100 years since St Bede's
came into existence. St Bede's is a school in Madras,
INDIA. It sits on a beautiful spot overlooking the
second longest beach in the world - Marina Beach. It is
also a boarding school having been set up to allow
Anglo-Indian orphans and also boys from remote areas
access to a proper education. The school has been taken
over and run by the Salesian Order of priests for many
years now. (refer to the History
of St Bede's).
The students who pass out from this school especially
the boarding have a well rounded character with
appreciation for fair play, sports, learning, religion,
friendship ( and the girls from Rosary Matric!) They are
known for their resilience and ability to tackle life's
challenges. Old Bedean's can be found all over the world
and they have been successful in a variety of careers.
