The Equalities Steering Group is part of The Wyre Strategic Partnership. The membership comprises of the Organisations listed above. The aims and objectives of the group are as follows:

• Represent minority groups and the diverse Community of Wyre and ensure that Equity and Equality are set as a priority in decisions that are made.

• To challenge any discriminatory or prejudicial comments, views or practices in an informative, fair and dignified manner. Identify omissions in policies, protocols and strategy to ensure equality and diversity is owned by all.

• Inform the board and other members about new or existing Equalities legislation.

• Promote Community cohesion by breaking down cultural barriers, to make Wyre a safe and equitable place to live and work.

• Value Diversity and recognise the contribution of all our communities.

• Ensure no person is discriminated against because of their Age, Gender, Sexual Orientation, Faith, Culture, Ethnicity, Disability or Background.

• The group will inform and influence The Partnership Board

• Members of the group will be consulted and seek to consult with their local communities.

• Promote the Partnership within the relevant sectors.

• Assist and inform other steering groups, The Themed Groups and Task Groups to achieve the objectives of the partnership.
