Our
small, friendly Guild meets
on the third
Wednesday of each month (except August) at 7.30pm at Bloomfield Community
Centre, Narberth, and on the following Saturday 10am-4pm either at the
Bloomfield or at Carew Methodist Hall.
Our
varied programme includes informal get-togethers, spinning, weaving,
learning new ideas, and helping each other with new projects. We have day
workshops on a very wide range of subjects including spinning, weaving and
dyeing but also other crafts such as felt making, braiding, paper making,
basket making, knitting, crocheting, and Christmas decorations.
Sometimes
we have a speaker or a slide show and even some interesting outings.
We
attend events to demonstrate our special (we think!) craft and to encourage
the next generation to continue with it and to this end we visit schools and
help with craft projects.
The
guild currently has about 45 members. Our
youngest member is in her teens and our oldest is in their 90s.
We
are affiliated to the national guild: The
Association of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers.
