Bridgnorth completed their Bodykraft league fixtures with another win against a side battling against relegation. After just 90 seconds Rob FOSTER scored, continuing his run of form over the past few weeks. Yon SAUNDERS then scored a thunderbolt of a shot into the top corner of the net. Droitwich were then awarded a controversial short corner which they converted to make it 2-1 at half time. After the break Ben HEMBROW and Ashley LEWIS took a firm grip on midfield, with HEMBROW scoring a quality goal. Rob FOSTER then scored twice to complete his hat trick and round off a fine performance. The best however was saved for last, when Steve PARNHAM, the second teams top goal scorer dribbled past 4 Droitwich players, before calmly slotting the ball past the keeper. Droitwich did get another goal, but it was too little too late and they were condemned to relegation along with Whitchurch.
This latest win means that Bridgnorth finished in 3 rd position at the end of the season. This was a difficult season in that Bridgnorth had just 4 points after 5 games and in a league where there are only 20 league fixtures, it seemed that they were in for a long hard battle against relegation. However, with a combination of battling performances and good team spirit amongst the 14 or so squad members they recovered to be the in form side in the league. Skipper Robin CONWAY and Vice Skipper Mike NETTLETON are stepping down from their roles at the end of the season and would like to thank everyone who has contributed so much for them this campaign. The side is likely to have a new look next season with so many of the up and coming youngsters coming through the coaching system.
Bridgnorth continued their run of form in this Bodykraft West Midlands Premier fixture, this time with a victory against Wolverhampton who have proved to be a bogey side for all of the top teams.
Bridgnorth started slowly but confidently, and had it not been for slackness in front of goal, could and should have been 2 goals up. After a couple of good saves, Adam WRIGHT conceded a scruffy goal to give Wolves a half time lead. The match then deteriorated as Wolverhampton started to get extremely physical with the young Bridgnorth side. This led to a second goal for Wolves and the game looked dead and buried for Bridgnorth, with 10 minutes to go.
Then, Richard EALEY who has been outstanding all season at right back, swept forward and hammered a goal home to give Bridgnorth a faint chance. Then a minute later the ever reliable Steve PARNHAM hit yet another goal in his successful season. This seemed to knock the stuffing out of Wolverhampton and Matt EALEY put the Bridgnorth side ahead for the first time in the game. He then rounded off an excellent performance with a candidate for goal of the season; he received a ball from the right and in one movement wrongfooted 3 defenders and the goalkeeper. He then lashed an unstoppable reverse stick shot that stayed 3 feet above the ground all the way into the left hand corner of the goal.
So once again Bridgnorth showed some of their vices and then showed all of ther virtues to win the game in the last 9 minutes. Next week pits them against 2nd placed Worcester and it depends which Bridgnorth turns up. On their day, Bridgnorth can live and beat anyone in the league. On another day, they can struggle against mediocre opposition.
Bridgnorth continued their run of form in this Bodykraft West Midlands Premier fixture with a victory against the Birmingham side. In the first 15 minutes, Bridgnorth were outstanding, zipping the ball about with pace and precision. Rob 'Gigglepops' FOSTER was causing all sorts of havoc down the right and from one powerful run deceived the Solihull goalkeeper with a pass into the net. More Bridgnorth pressure followed and Yon SAUNDERS celebrated his return into the side with a strong finish on a loose ball which gave the goalie no chance. Sadly Bridgnorth then gave the veteran Solihull sweeper 40 yards too much space and he was able to amble forward and pass to a forward who deflected the ball past Adam WRIGHT, despite the keeper getting a big bit of the ball. Stevie PARNHAM, brother of the legendary Great Britain player Craig, then scored the first of his goals from a Lez EVANS switch.
Solihull started the second half with a real effort and piled the pressure on the Bridgnorth defence. Uncharacteristically, Ashley LEWIS gave a weak pass out of defence, which was picked up by the Solihull centre forward who scored. For the next 10 minutes Solihull piled on the pressure which was dealt with admirably by LEWIS, Nigel STOKER, Rich EALEY and Mike NETTLETON. Solihull were always vulnerable to be caught on the break and Ben HENBROW created a short corner which PARNHAM slid past the keeper. A spell of Bridgnorth pressure then followed with Will WEIR coming more into the game. Two more short corners followed which were created by HENBROW, slipped to PARNHAM by EVANS, who then calmly and gratefully slammed in his 3rd and 4th goal, which inevitably led to a long journey home, during which he was able to talk his fellow passengers through his goals.
This Saturday brings a tough challenge against Wolverhampton, who have beaten all of the top 4 sides in the league already this season, and themselves lie in 5th, just one place behind Bridgnorth, having been beaten surprisingly by Droitwich last week.

Bridgnorth 2nd X1 5 - Walsall 2nd X1 0
Bridgnorth entertained Walsall on Saturday looking to avenge an earlier defeat in this Bodykraft league fixture. Bridgnorth started well against the second placed team in the league, moving the ball around with purpose and confidence. After 10 minutes of sustained pressure, Bridgnorth scored through the impressive Steve PARNHAM. A few minutes later, Ben HENBROW dribbled through several Walsall players and had several attempts on goal before flicking the ball in to make it 2. Bridgnorth were grateful for 3 excellent one of one saves that goalie Adam WRIGHT made when Bridgnorth were caught on the break.
Bridgnorth were solid in the middle with Lez EVANS and James DAYBOURNE stifling any potential danger. At half time, Bridgnorth brought on Will WALKER and Corey DAVIES and both had an excellent half. Within 34seconds of the restart Rob FOSTER made it 3 with a cool finish. Lez EVANS made it 4 with an unstoppable thunderbolt of a short corner and Kev THOMAS rounded off an impressive game with a well taken goal.
This was game where Bridgnorth showed all of their virtues and just a couple of their vices; it was consistently the most impressive total performance this season. It is the sort of performance that must be produced every week before they can realise the ambition of promotion. But with the crop of talented youngsters coming through the lower teams, it is only a matter of time before that happens. Bridgnorth face Solihull Blossomfield this Saturday in what is a 'must win' game for the Birmingham side. Bridgnorth continue to remain in the top 4.

North Stafford 2nd X1 4 Bridgnorth 2nd X1 0
Bridgnorth will be disappointed to come away with nothing in this BodyKraft League 2nd team fixture, despite the unflattering scoreline. It was all over by halftime as the home team and league leaders playing with their backs to a low winter sun scored 3 times. Twice goalie Adam WRIGHT was deceived as he lost the ball in the glare.
The second half was much better as Bridgnorth started passing the ball round with pace and precision. Steve PARNHAM went close on several occasions and the North Stafford side lokked under real pressure for the first 10 minutes. At this point Bridgnorth were awarded a penalty which Steve PARNHAM calmy converted. To everyones astonishment the umpire disallowed the goal saying that PARNHAM had hit the ball into the net.
Despite this disappointment, Bridgnorth continued to press, but were hit by a breakaway goal to give North Stafford all 3 points. It was a shame that the game was ruined by an umpire who felt that he was the centre of attention and far too important to be umpiring a game involving 2nd X1 players.
Next week sees Bridgnorth play Walsall who lie second in the table. Bridgnorth will be looking for a much better performance than the last time they played them, when they conceded 5 goals before they scored 3 of their own.

Bridgnorth 2nd X1 - 7 Finchfield 2nd X1- 0
Bridgnorth played local rivals Finchfield in a friendly fixture prior to Christmas and were made to work hard against limited but spirited oppostion. For 50 minutes Bridgnorth struggled as they have for most of the season to find a rythm. But again like the rest of the season, when they did start playing, the opposition could not live with the superior skill, experience and ability that Bridgnorth possessed.
In the last 20 minutes scored 6 goals to send the opposition home unhappy that they hadn't managed to keep it to a respectable 1-0 loss. Goals came thick and fast fromGlynMCKENNA who opened the scoring, Lez EVANS, Will WEIR, a thunderbolt from Yon SAUNDERS, Matt MARTIN, Corey DAVIES, and Vice Skipper Mike NETTLETON.
Bridgnorth are now in 4th position in the Bodykraft League, West Midlands Premier Division 2nd X1, but with only 4 points separating 2nd and 7th, it really is a very tight league indeed.

Bridgnorth 2nd X1 - 4 Whitchurch 2nd X1- 1
Bridgnorth duly completed the double over bottom of the table Whitchurch, but again made heavy work against spirited, but limited opposition. The first half was played at a frenetic pace, with neither side showing any true class. Having said that, Bridgnorth could have been 4 goals to the good by half time. Kevin THOMAS showed some first team quality in delivering 2 excellent far post crosses, which should have been converted. Matt EALEY again made some chances, but was unlucky in not finding the net on 2 other occasions.
Bridgnorths first goal came from a short corner, which Lez EVANS guided past the Whitchurch keeper. Sadly, the Bridgnorth curse struck again and a Whitchurch player was allowed to run 80 yards up the pitch, before crossing the ball which was passed into the net.
The second half was much better for Bridgnorth, with good passing passages of play involving Matt MARTIN, Will WALKER, Ashley LEWIS and Nigel STOKER. A crisp passing move was finished off by Steve PARNHAM, before midfielder EVANS cooly slotted his second goal of the game. The best was saved for last however, when Steve PARNHAM went into the D from an acute angle and shaped to cross the ball. The Whitchurch goalkeeper gave him the slightest gap which PARNHAM gratefully took with an unstoppable lifted shot over the despairing goalkeepers dive.
The BodyKraft League now has a break of a month, when Bridgnorth find themselves up against top of the table North Stafford.

Bridgnorth 2nd X1- 4 Droitwich 2nd X1 - 3
Bridgnorth concluded their first half of the BodyKraft West Midlands Premier league against Droitwich on Saturday and it proved to be once again a difficult fixture.
Bridgnorth started off at a fast pace and it appeared as though an easy game was on the cards when Rob FOSTER finished off a move after just 5 minutes after a good advantage by the umpire. In the first 20 minutes Bridgnorth played the game in the Droitwich half and the visitors fell further behind when the impressive Matt EALEY hammered home a goal he had made himself with a piece of individual skill.
Once again Bridgnorth let their opponents back into the game, conceding a goal just before half time. The second half started with Droitwich looking the more likely to score and so it proved when the Bridgnorth defence failed to stop a ball being pushed into the goal. Bridgnorth then restored their lead when Steve PARNHAM used his experience to peel away from the Droitwich Centre back and guide a cross into the goal. Unfortunately Droitwich scored a goal from an attacking Bridgnorth corner, when a player ran 80 yards throught the centre of the pitch and passed to an unmarked Droitwich forward for an easy tap-in.
Bridgnorth responded and it was Matt EALEY who came up with the goods with an unstoppable shot despite being fouled. Bridgnorth then played the type of possession hockey they are capable of to close out the win and get another 3 points.
Bridgnorth can look back on the first half of the season with mixed feelings. The only side to deservedly beat them was Worcester, yet they lost 2 more through lack of concentration and not playing as a team. If the second half of the season is approached in the right manner, Bridgnorth can improve on their current position of 5th. The future can only get better as there are many young players in lower teams who are expected to go onto either 2nd or 1st team hockey. Players such as Corey DAVIES, Will WEIR, Jack LUCAS, Glyn Mckenna and Will WALKER will be expected to join up with players such as Rob FOSTER, Matt EALEY, Ross QUAITE, James DAYBOURNE and Ben HENBROW in the next few months and there are many others who will be in higher teams next season. So the future is looking bright for the next few seasons.

Stratford 2nd X1 - 1 Bridgnorth 2nd X1- 2
The BodyKraft West Midlands Premier league is proving to be a tough one for Bridgnorth 2nd X1, where it seems that every team in the league can beat each other.
Bridgnorth were looking to establish some consistency in their recent games, but any thoughts of an easy game were soon dispelled by a young fit and fast Stratford side.
The pace and skill of Stratford were countered by the penetration of the Bridgnorth midfield with Ben HENBROW and Rob FOSTER always causing a problem for the home side. An excellent piece of individual skill by Matt EALEY led to him finishing with a well placed reverse stick shot past the keeper. Stratford however fought back and scored after some good pressure.
Bridgnorth changed the system at half time and the excellent James DAYBOURNE marked the Stratford playmaker out of the game. Stratford to their credit continued to push forward for a winner but were held up by the tireless Lez EVANS and the quality play of sweeper Ashley LEWIS. Bridgnorth continued to play on the break and Matt EALEY was unlucky to hit a post after a beautiful half volley reaction shot.
With 10 minutes to go Matt EALEY picked up a ball in his own half and raced away from the despairing Warwick defence. As the Goal Keeper slid out, EALEY calmly placed the ball under him for a real 'goal scorers' goal.
Stratford continued to press for an equaliser and were indebted to Adam WRIGHT for some smart saves and to Yon SAUNDERS who epitomised Bridgnorths never say die attitude with his own unique brand of committed hockey.
This Saturday Bridgnorth play Droitwich in what is expected to be a tough physical game.

Bridgnorth 2nd X1- 2 Old Halesoniens 2nd X1- 0
Bridgnorth 2nd team started their BodyKraft West Midlands Premier league fixture against the side immediately above them in the league on Saturday, looking to consolidate the form they showed last week against Warwick.
The first 15 minutes were full of fast passing hockey with Bridgnorth shading the exchanges.Midfielder Ben HENBROW was always a danger to the Old Hales defence, with his skill pace and trickery sometimes taking 4 or 5 players to stop him. Matt EALEY continued his run of form on the right wing always causing problems to the visitors and going close on 2 occasions. The first half finished 0-0 with Adam WRIGHT in the Bridgnorth goal having only a couple of routine saves to make in the entire half.
The second half started with Rob FOSTER pushing up higher on the right, which almost immediately led to Matt EALEY opening the scoring for Bridgnorth. Within 5 minutes the hard working Ross QUAITE scored a deserved goal which effectively ended the game. With the outstanding Ashley LEWIS and Nigel STOKER dealing with anything coming through the middle and Mike NETTLETON gobbling up any attempts made by the Old HALES right side, Bridgnorth kept a clean sheet for the first time this season.
The next 3 games see Bridgnorth playing sides below them and gives them the chance of consolidating their position in the top half of the table.

Warwick 2nd X1 - 3 Bridgnorth 2nd X1- 3
Bridgnorth 2nd team started their BodyKraft West Midlands Premier league fixtures against 3rd placed Warwick on Saturday, looking to improve on their inconsistent form so far this season.
The first half was an even affair, with good hockey played by the Bridgnorth midfield. With Matt EALEY always looking for the ball, he created trouble for the Warwick defence with his pace and skill. Bridgnorth took an early lead through a subtle Steve PARNHAM deflection, but then almost immediately conceded 2 simple, but well taken goals from the young Warwick team. Lez EVANS pulled a goal back, but again, an easy goal for Warwick gave them a 3-2 lead at half time.
The second half was a much tighter affair, but Bridgnorth showed the better desire and will to win. A lung bursting run by Rich EALEY gave Bridgnorth a free hit and from the early ball EALEY finished off with a well executed reverse stick shot.
Bridgnorth continued to dominate with excellent commitment, which went through the side from the quality of Ashley LEWIS and Nigel STOKER in defence up to Ross QUAITE and Matt EALEY in attack.
Bridgnorth were unlucky not to win the game in the last 5 minutes, when a shot was stopped on the Warwick goal line illegally. From the resultant penalty, Steve PARNHAM pulled the ball just wide, having sent the keeper the wrong way. Bridgnorth were however, indebted to Adam WRIGHT for an excellent reflex save from a rare Warwick attack.
Bridgnorth will now be looking to take forward this type of form to their opponents on Saturday Old Halesonians

Men's 2nds Vs Worcester Lost 4-0
Bridgnorth entertained Worcester who are second in the West Midlands Premier, on Saturday and for the first half looked bright and skillful. Ben Hembrow in midfield and Nigel Stoker in defence looked sharp. The away side were 1-0 up at half time through a penalty flick which sent keeper Adam Wright the wrong way. However during the second half Bridgnorth's play became more erratic and fluid passing movements became less evident. In the last fifteen minutes of the game it seemed as though every time Bridgnorth played the ball forward it went to an opposition player and they consequently put themselves under alot of pressure. Bridgnorth must re-group and focus on the superb passing play that they have shown in previous weeks. This team has much to be positive about.

Wolverhampton 2nd X1 - 3 Bridgnorth 2nd X1- 2
Bridgnorth 2nd team started their BodyKraft West Midlands Premier league fixtures against local rivals, Wolverhampton on Saturday, looking to improve on their inconsistent form so far this season.
The first half was a cagey affair, with Bridgnorth defending and relying on the pace and skill of Matt EALEY, Ben HEMBROW, Danny ROBERTS and Rob FOSTER to put pressure on the Wolverhampton back 4. From one of the many resulting short corners, Steve PARNHAM slotted a goal, to go into the break 1 goal up.
Bridgnorth changed their style slightly in the 2nd half, having proved they were technically better than the opposition. Sadly this proved their undoing as Wolves pulled a goal back. Steve PARNHAM continued his rich vein of scoring with another well taken goal, before Wolves responded with 2 goals of their own.
Although Bridgnorth have had 22 different players so far this season, they really must start to put some consistency in their play or it will be a long hard season for them. This Saturday pits them against the very strong Worcester side.

Bridgnorth 2nd X1- 6 Solihull Blossomfield 2nd X1- 2
Bridgnorth 2nd team started their BodyKraft West Midlands Premier league fixtures against Birmingham side, Solihull Blossomfield on Saturday, looking to improve on their poor result the previous week.
Once again Bridgnorth were hesitant in defence and were soon 1 goal down following a short corner. However the Bridgnorth midfield of Will WEIR, Lez Evans, Danny ROBERTS and James DAYBOURNE started to take control and it was James DAYBOURNE who equalised, scoring his first ever league goal for the 2nds. Good work by Steve PARNHAM led to a goal for Matt EALEY before the Birmingham side pulled it back to 2-2.
The match was then all about Bridgnorth. Matt EALEY scored a brilliant goal from the restart before Ross QUAITE scored an equally impressive individual goal. Further goals came from Steve PARNHAM and Richard EALEY, who not only scored one, but stopped a goal bound shot on the line after Keeper Adam WRIGHT had been beaten. Nigel STOKER looked very inch the class player he is at the heart of Bridgnorths defence.
A much better performance this week, but Bridgnorth will have to be on good form next week to beat local rivals Wolverhampton.

13/10/07
Walsall 2nd X1 - 5 Bridgnorth 2nd X1 - 3
This is a game that Bridgnorth should have won against limited, but fit and quick opposition. The first half was dominated by Bridgnorth, but on the 3 breakaways that Walsall had, they scored. The defence which had played so well the previous week, were unable to make their tackles and clear the ball.
After the break Bridgnorth reverted to a 4 man midfield. James DAYBOURNE was the pick of the midfield making good tackles to break up the play and launch Bridgnorth forward. Unfortunately Walsall scored another breakaway goal and it was at this point that Bridgnorth started playing proper hockey.
Goals from Mike NETTLETON, Steve PARNHAM and Ben HENBROW showed what Bridgnorth could have done had they played that type of hockey from the start of the match, however it was too little, too late and Walsall ran out worthy winners. Promising performances from Ross QUAITE and Glen McKENNA were the highlights of an unmemorable performance. Bridgnorth must play better in future games.

06/10/07
Bridgnorth 2nd X1 - 2 North Stafford 2nd X1 - 2.
This was Bridgnorth seconds first home BodyKraft West Midlands Premier league fixture of the season against a young fit side, newly promoted North Stafford side.
Although Bridgnorth were under pressure from the first whistle, they managed to carve out their own chances and from the first proper one, skipper Robin Conway slotted home. North Stafford equalised with a fierce shot, before vice skipper Mike 'stinger' NETTLETON, calmly converted from a short corner.
The second half was all North Stafford and it was only fine goalkeeping from Adam WRIGHT and mature performances from Rich EALEY and Yon SAUNDERS that limited North Staffords chances. Thery were however able to score with 10 minutes to go, whch is how it remained.
Bridgnorth should take heart from a spirited performance against one of the stronger sides in the division. Next week pits them against Walsall, which is expected to be another stern test.

29/09/07
Whitchurch 2nd X1- 2 Bridgnorth 2nd X1- 4
Bridgnorth 2nd team started their BodyKraft West Midlands Premier league fixtures against newly promoted Whitchurch on Saturday.
The early exchanges were all about Bridgnorth as Matt MARTIN and Ross QUAITE split the Whitchurch defence. An early goal by Lez EVANS should have settled Bridgnorth down, but it inspired Whitchurch who had several dangerous attacks through the middle of the pitch, and equalised within 2 minutes.
A second goal from EVANS was followed by an immediate equaliser for the hosts, leasving scores level at the break.
Bridgnorth changed their tactics to snuff out the Whitchurch threat from midfield and the second half showed a much better team performance. EVANS duly completed his hat-trick and Rob FOSTER scored the other goal.
Bridgnorth will have to play much better this season, if they hope to push for a promotion challenge and next week brings them up another of the newly promoted sides, North Stafford, in what is expected to be a much sterner test.

22/09/07
Bridgnorth 2nds 0 Telford 2nds 1
Bridgnorth started this local fixture very much on the defensive against a side playing 2 divisions higher.
Although Telford had much more possession, they were unable to penetrate a very solid Bridgnorth defence marshalled by Yon SAUNDERS. Unfortunately, a defensive lapse led to Telford taking a 1-0 lead into the break.
Bridgnorth showed more attacking flair in the second half and the midfield pairing of Bruno MUSTONE and Rob FOSTER worked superbly in creating chances for Bridgnorth, who were unable to convert the chances they had.
Bridgnorth unfortunately had 3 players sent off which reduced their chances of levelling the score against a very well drilled Telford side who ran out 1-0 winners.

Men's 2nds Vs Leicester Lost 5-4 Scorers Matt Ealey, Rob Foster, Rich Ealey, Adam Boddey
Bridgnorth entertained Leicester on Saturday in a must win game for Bridgnorth. Only maximum points from the remaining four games would give the home side any chance of survival. It started badly for Bridgnorth as the away side won a number of short corners but the town side weathered the storm and came back into the game, however the faint glimmer of hope looked all but extinguished as the visitors took a 2 goal lead after 20 minutes. Bridgnorth rallied and finally scored just before half time thanks to a Rich Ealey thunderbolt from a well worked short corner.
Just after the break the visitors restored the 2 goal lead to leave the home side distraught, however a excellent finish from Adam Boddy and then Rob Foster's neat deflection levelled the scores and gave Bridgnorth hope at 3-3. Leicester then struck to regain the lead before Matt Ealey's cool finish levelled again with minutes remaining, however with the game now end to end it looked only a matter of time before another goal would come and it did with less than a minute left, but it was scored by Leicester and that condemned Bridgnorth to relegation.

Bridgnorth 2nd XI 4-8 Harbourne 2nd XI
Bridgnorth started this must win DTZ league game with a bang putting the visitors goals under immense pressure and took the lead through Les Evans. Harbourne equalised just before half-time with a rebound goal after a great save by Ilic. Bridgnorth started the second half very poorly with sloppy passes enabling Harbourne to score two very quick goals. This woke the home side up and Bridgnorth replied with two quick goals through the outstanding Matt Ealey. Once again Bridgnorth fell asleep and Harbourne went on to score two more quick goals. The outstanding Ealey scored for Bridgnorth but it was to no avail as Harbourne went on to win the game 8-4. Bridgnorth must improve their play and put what chances they have in front of goal if they are to stay in this league.

Men's 2nds Vs Notts Uni Lost 6-3 Scorers Lez Evans, Rob Foster, Chris Speke
Bridgnorth played hosts to 2nd placed Notts University on Saturday and were more than a match for the students and took the lead through Lez Evans after 10 minutes. Bridgnorth pushed for a second but it didn't come and some slack play allowed the students back into the game to equalise. The students then added two more before half time but were lucky to be two ahead.
The second half started badly for the home side as they were caught on the attack to extend the lead to three. The nail looked to be hammered into the coffin as the students were awarded a flick, but Skipper Graham Ilic pulled off a slick save to keep Bridgnorth in the game. Buoyed buy this Bridgnorth scored through Rob Foster following good work by Billy Toulson. However the students skill and speed were telling more and more as they scored again to regain a three goal cushion. With five minutes to go the roving Chris Upton-Speke, scored the goal of season, to peg the students back and give Bridgnorth a glimmer of hope but another goal from the students ended the faint hopes.

Khalsa 4 -v- Bridgnorth 2
Bridgnorth relegation worries continued when they lost their latest DTZ League game. Bridgnorth started strongly and thought they had scored through Rob Foster, but he put his effort wide. Khalsa grew stronger and soon went into a 2-0 lead. Bridgnorth pulled a goal back through outstanding team work from Matt Ealey, enabling Mark Jones to put the ball under the diving keeper.
The second half continued where it left off, Bridgnorth having most of the play but missed chances once again proved dear. Khalsa raced into a 4-1 lead only for veteran Lez Evans to give Bridgnorth a glimmer of hope. This was not to be and Khala ran out 4-2 winners. Ash Lewis and Matt Ealey were outstanding on the second team league debut; Lewis impressive at the back and Ealey forming a fruitful partnership up front with Mark Jones.

Bridgnorth 2nd XI 1-5 Telford 2nd XI
Bridgnorth hosted top of the table in their latest DTZ division 1 league game and soon had their backs against the wall, with Telford constantly attacking.
Bridgnorth were soon down after Telford were awarded a penalty stroke followed by 2 short corners to run into a 3 nil lead. Bridgnorth found the back of Telford’s net through and outstanding goal by Mark Jones, but this was to no avail as Telford scored again to go 4-1 up at half time. Once again Telford dominated in all areas but outstanding defending and poor finishing enable the scores to stand at 4-1 until a break away goal minutes from the end gave Telford an easy win.

Men's 2nds Vs Sutton Coldfield Lost 3-2 Scorers Lez Evans, Neil Morris
Bridgnorth travelled to Sutton Coldfield for their latest DTZ Division 1 League game. Appalling umpiring by the home side cost Bridgnorth at least a share of the spoils. Bridgnorth started strongly but once again failed to convert what chances they had in front of goal. Sutton Coldfield took the lead through a goal mouth mélé. This woke Bridgnorth up who went on to score late on in the first half through Neil Morris.
The second half started strongly for Sutton Coldfield and they went on to win a dubious short corner which they scored from. Bridgnorth continued to work hard and won their one and only short corner, which was scored by a Lez Evans' thunderbolt. Four minutes from the end of play, a Sutton Coldfield player deflected the ball high into the Bridgnorth net. On any other day this goal would not have stood but due to very poor umpiring, Bridgnorth were defeated.

Mark Jones worked his socks off and won Bridgnorth a short corner which he scored from. Right on the stroke of half time the home side won a penalty stroke which they put away. The second half started strongly for Bridgnorth but the home side scored again following some sloppy defending. This woke Bridgnorth up and they scored through Joe Toulson. Once again the home side won a penalty stroke which ‘keeper Graham Ilic had no chance with. Just before the end the home side scored again and ran out 5-2 winners. Pete Thompson, Alix Cottam, Graham Ilic were outstanding at the back and Mark Jones was first class up front.

Bridgnorth 2nd XI 0 -4 Edgbaston 2nd XI
Bridgnorth started their latest DTZ League game brightly but never put the visitors under any serious pressure. Edgbaston took the lead late in the first half and went into half time one nil up. At the start of the second half Bridgnorth lost king pin defender Chris Speke through a pulled muscle which he never knew he had. This rocked the Bridgnorth defence and the visitors went on to score two quick short corner goals and had the home side on the back foot for long periods. Five minutes from the end Edgbaston scored a well worked goal from the top of the D and ran out worthy four nil winners.

Men's 2nds Vs Solihull Blossomfield Won 4-1 Scorers Tom Phillips (2), Mark Jones, Lez Evans
In their last friendly before the league returns. Bridgnorth hosted a Birmingham side Solihull Blossomfield.
Bridgnorth started with pace and accuracy and had their visitors pegged back in their own half on numerous occasions. It was no surprise when Bridgnorth took the lead through Tom Phillips. Bridgnorth continued to push the visitors all the way and scored again through Lez Evans just before half time.
The second half was a different story where Bridgnorth had their backs against the wall for long periods and Solihull scored a well worked goal. This seemed to get Bridgnorth out of the rut and Bridgnorth scored a short corner through Mark Jones followed by another goal for Tom Phillips. In the end Bridgnorth ran out easy winners but they will have to improve next week when they host Edgbaston in the DTZ League.

Bridgnorth 2nd XI 6-3 John Player 2nd XI
Bridgnorth entertained Nottingham side players in their last DTZ Division one league game before the Christmas break.
Bridgnorth started strongly and took the lead through Steve Parnham but a sloppy short corner goal got Players back into the game. Soaking up pressure Bridgnorth regained the lead on the stroke of half time with a coolly taken penalty stroke which was converted by Mark Jones.

Old Hales were thrown a lifeline when they took a free hit quickly from the wrong place and were able to score as Bridgnorth tried to get into position. Good work from Simon Marston allowed Bennett time to collect Marstons pass and turn in the D to score pass the advancing goalie.
Bridgnorth started the second half at pace and Parnham added his second from another short corner. Kev Thomas' hard work was rewarded when he flicked home from the top of the D and Tom Philips sent a shot thudding into the backboard. The home teams hard work and great passing was in evidence for the seventh goal as the ball was passed from the back, to the midfield and then to the forwards with pace as Bennett completed his hat-trick. Bridgnorth Seconds 2 Wolves 2
Bridgnorth started their first home Coaching Solutions League game following a deluge that had looked like it may make the pitch more suitable to watersports than hockey. After the problems of last week Bridgnorth started in a better frame of mind and took the game to Wolverhampton. Both keepers were called into action but the visiting keeper was the busier as the half time approached it looked as if the it would end goalless but good work by Joe Toulson on the right side of the pitch allowed Dale Bennett to put the home side ahead. Bridgnorth should have doubled the lead immediately as Julian Dwane's shot was kicked off the line and the home side were awarded a flick, however not for the first time this season Bridgnorth were unable to score from the spot. To add insult to injury Wolverhampton equalised before the half time.
Wolves started the second half quickly and took the lead. Bridgnorth applied more pressure and equalised through Steve Parnham. First, Warwick's side of the story
Warwick’s first Coaching Solutions League game of the season saw them at home to the team responsible for their last day slide in to relegation six months ago. Bridgnorth inflicted a 2-4 defeat on the home side last time and Warwick were determined to prevent a repeat.
Five minutes into the second half and Warwick’s intentions were sounded by Harry Simmons who converted some good work down the right with a drag flick at the top of the D.
10 minutes more passed and Phil Foster doubled the home lead with another flick from open play. After this Warwick turned up the heat and as shots rained in on the visitors goal it was only some sharp keeping from the Bridgnorth number 1 that kept out flicks from James Allison, shots from James Chapman and a superbly timed run and shot from Ben Kruze.
The few breaks at the other end were soaked up by the Warwick defence and a couple of fine saves from Kev McGreevy in goal.
As half time approached Warwick finally found away through as Wilbur Williams broke from midfield and, at the second time of asking, found Bobby Kallah waiting in the D. He rounded the keeper to make it 3-0.
Warwickshire beer company man of the match John Kane, on temporary assignment from the first team, crowned is tireless performance with a brilliant individual goal from the left to make it 4-0 at half time.
The second half was less impressive with Warwick’s midfield failing to hold the ball as Bridgnorth pressed and the back line of Richard Owen, Phil Holding, Phil Foster and Dave McNee being called upon to make a string of good challenges.
It was a heavy deflection that left McGreevy stranded and gifted the visitors a fortunate first goal but it was a well taken turn and strike that gave them their second.
Mild panic set into the Warwick camp, as they feared the visitors sensed a way back into the game, and they resorted to the long ball trying to find another goal to kill the game. The killer goal almost came when a pinpoint pass from Captain Allison found Richard Price in the D but, with the keeper beaten, all he could find was the post.
With 10 minutes to goal the Warwick nerves were tested further as Richard Owen turn the ball round the post with his stick hand, rule 9.10 was ignored and an extremely controversial penalty stroke was awarded. A good flick left McGreevy with no chance and Warwick under increased pressure.
Warwick dug deep for the last few minutes and managed to snuff out any further threat from Bridgenorth to secure a hard fought the and well deserved three points.

Bridgnorth travelled to Warwick in their opening Coaching Solutions league match against a side that who were relegated along with Bridgnorth last season. Bridgnorth unfortunately seemed to have stayed in the changing rooms as the home side ripped into the Bridgnorth defence time and time again and thanks to the Cat like reflexes of Graham Ilic Bridgnorth were lucky come in 4-0 down at half time.
After a few strong words and some positional changes Bridgnorth looked to limit the damage in the second half. Bridgnorth repelled the Warwick onslaught and started to played some constructive hockey that allowed Simon Marston to pull one back after ten minutes of the second half. Five minutes later Dale Bennett fired home a second and Warwick were on the backfoot. When Steve Parnham's short corner was illegally stopped on the line and he coolly slotted home resulting penalty flick it looked like Bridgnorth may get out of jail with ten minutes left, however Bridgnorth had left themselves too much to do and were unable to score again as Warwick resulted to an 11 man defence to hang on and claim all the points.
