“My Favourite Croatian Recipes” is the first Croatian cookery book to be published in Great Britain.
I began writing it in 2003 when my son Daniel started nursery. A friend had been on holiday in Croatia and had looked in vain for an English language cookery book. On his return to Wales he asked me jokingly, “When will your cookery book be coming out? ”

A seed was planted. I began practising and perfecting traditional recipes that epitomise the best of Croatian cuisine.

I illustrated each dish with a colour photograph. These were all taken in my garden, mostly in winter time. I followed the weather forecasts assiduously timing my cooking to the breaks in the clouds and lulls in the wind. Swirling icing sugar and flying lettuce don’t give the impression of balmy summer days in Croatia.

Now the book is published and I have put four Recipes on the website for you to enjoy. There are 60 in the book including a selection of starters, main courses and desserts from all regions of the country.
