It
has been said that Tai Chi is "the Mother
and Father" of ALL martial art - including
those of devastating combat. This 'complete'
and most ancient or Aboriginal Chinese form
is called TAI CHI CHUAN.
It
takes a long time to learn Tai Chi Chuan.
About eight years regular Form practice
and three years Pushing/Sticking Hands /Tai
Chi for Two) practice - prior to any proper
understanding of this unwritten style of
'yielding'self-defence.
Once
underway the study of Tai Chi can be nothing
other than ongoing and has as many facets
as specialties.
Ultimately Tai Chi and the intrinsic philosophy
of The Tao ("the way that cannot be spoken
of") is individual and lifelong - like eating,
getting up and going to bed.
With
an irony common to eastern arts, the result
of deep study renders application unnecessary!
This is an irony that can only be understood
through deep study … and so on.
Tai Chi is best done simply for the doing.
