11th Shaw Scout Troop - Mapping Resources : Distance and Timing
Cards
|
This is a merger of the two individual files available for working out distance (distcard.htm) and times (pacecard.htm) from a map.
These are an aid to helping you with your route planning. There are currently two types. One is a Claris(Apple)Works database, then other are two pdf files (one for each front and back)
They help you to work out the distance that you would have to walk when measured from a map, or the time it will take to walk a set distance at a set speed. Yes, you can do this with a calculator or in your head but this is a quick way of working them out.
For some measurements you may have to add two or more figures together i.e. for 12.5cm on a map you would add :
10cm + 2cm + 5mm.
or
the time to take for walking 1250m you would add :
1000m + 250mEnsure that you use the correct column(s)/row(s) when you work them out.
