Goalkeepers

(20) Robert Douglas - 24 / 4 / 1972

Joined from Dundee for just under a million, replaced Gould in the sticks.

He has done a great job there since joining us, he has also help us to a fair amount of clean sheets that won us the treble 2000/01, lets hope Rab gets a Scotland call up in the not so far future, he deserves it. Thanks Rab.

( 1 ) Jonathan Gould

Signed in 1997/8 season, which was were he help Celtic win the Coca-Cola Cup, without letting one goal past his posts, that's an incredible achievement, never the less, Gould soon feel down to second in the pecking order with the arrival of Rab Douglas. He also helped Celtic snatch rangers 10 in a row, by helping Celtic win the league, that went to the final day of the campaign.

I have always thought of Jonathan as a good goalkeeper, he was powerless to save most of the deflected shoots, that was his downside, but a goalkeeper like Jonathan cant be blamed for that surely, I hope to see this man in the starting 11 soon. good Luck Gould

(23) Dimitre Kharine - 16 / 8 / 1968

Signed by John Barnes from Chelsea, It was once said that he is the best shot stopper whilst at Stanford Bridge, hasn't really made a impact since moving north of the border, probley be a reserve for the remainder of his contact, he did do well in the friendly against Manchester United, Maybe one day he might get the chance to shine, I hope so, as this is a waste of talent, not even on the bench.

Defenders

(2) Tom Boyd - 24 / 11 / 1964

My hero, Tom has served a great deal of time at Celtic, he has his testimonial against Manchester United, At Celtic park, we lost 2 - 0 on the night. Tom Boyd has a wealth of experience at both domestic and international level, and has services to Scotland have earned him a place in the prestigious SFA Hall of Fame after gaining more than 50 caps for his country.

( 6 ) Dianbobo Balde - 10 / 5 / 1975

The big defender has been a commanding physical presence in the Celtic defence since arriving from Toulouse for a fee of 2.5m, fitting in alongside Johan Mjallby and Joos Valgaeren. While he was signed during the summer by Martin O'Neill, injury meant the French Guinean defender didn't make his debut until September, when Celtic beat Dunfermline 3-1, with Bobo setting up Celtic's third goal for Lubo Moravcik.

Bobo has been a rock in the Celtic defence, long live bobo !!

( 5 ) Joos Valgaeren - 3 / 3 / 1976

Signed by Martin O'Neil from Roda for 3.5 million, after shining for Belgium in euro 2000, Joos fits like a glove in the heart of the Celtic defence, his best performance I think was his first old firm game were Joos ripped Rangers Bert Konterman to piece's. Ever since Joos joined for the hoops the stability at the back. Keep up the good work Joos.

( 3 ) Mohammed Sylla - 13 / 3 / 1977

Momo Sylla was a surprise signing from St Johnstone but his impressive displays for the Perth side last season obviously caught the eye of Martin O'Neil. Sylla, a friend and international team-mate of new Celtic defender Bobo Balde, is a strong, skilful player who can play in a number of positions.

I don't know much about Sylla, but he has tried attacking for Celtic & he scored a great goal. Good luck Mohammed.

( 16 ) Olivier Tebily - 19 / 12 / 1975

African-born strong defender Tebily was one of the several John Barnes acquisitions on his arrival at Celtic. Tebily spent only six months in England with Sheffield United before leaving to come north - a move which even surprised the player. He has been a regular fixture in the Celtic defence from the first pre-season games of 2001/02.

I haven't really had the chance to rate Tebily, I would like to see more of this man in future, keep trying.

( 4 ) Jackie McNamara - 24 / 10 / 1973

McNamara was snapped up by Tommy Burns in October 1995 for £600,000 from Dunfermline, and made an impressive start to his Celtic career. He was impressive in a more central midfield role last season  and scored in both the CIS Cup final and the Scottish Cup final victories.

Jackie Looks a Sure thing. for the future of Celtic players, I wish him all the best for a long career.

Midfielders

( 8 ) Alan Thompson - 22 / 12 / 1973

The left-sided midfielder arrived at Celtic a month into the new season from Aston Villa, and made his debut in the CIS Insurance Cup game against Raith Rovers when he netted in a 4-0 win. Thompson has been a regular in the squad since his arrival and has bolstered the Celtic midfield with his combative qualities. He scored the only goal in a vital Old Firm victory at Celtic Park last season. Thompson has great deadball skills.

( 11 ) Morten Wieghorst

Wieghorst earned a man-of-the-match award in a Coca-Cola Cup Final and earned a deserved place in the Denmark World Cup squad before suffering every player's nightmare. A cruciate knee injury forced him to miss the first nine months of season 1998-99 before he bounced back towards the end of the season and signed a new three year contract. In 2000, Morten suffered a setback when illness kept him out of the side for a year.

( 14 ) Paul Lambert - 7 / 8 / 1969

The Scottish international midfielder was signed by Wim Jansen in November 1997 from Borussia Dortmund, having won the European Cup the previous season with the Germans, and has been an integral part of the team ever since, helping Celtic win the league in 1997/98 and again last season as part of the Treble. A world-class player.

Lets all hope that Paul sign's a new contract as it is vital to keep the experience like Paul's at the club.

( 15 ) Bobby Petta - 6 / 8 / 1974

Signed by John Barnes under the Bosman ruling from Ipswich, the Dutch winger had a torrid first season at the club. However, since the arrival of Martin O 'Neill he has thrived on the left-wing and has grown in confidence with each improved performance. Petta's was outstanding in the first Old Firm game of the season and gave Fernando Ricksen an uncomfortable afternoon during a crushing 6-2 victory for Celtic. Petta is a inspiration to the Celtic team, his ball skills are out of this world, keep it up my son!

( 19 ) Neil Lennon - 25 / 6 / 1971

Lennon finally teamed up with his mentor Martin O 'Neill when he arrived from Leicester after a controversial transfer saga, a cost of 6.5m. The Northern Ireland internationalist and life-long Celtic supporter made his debut at Dens Park against Dundee and has since settled in quickly to the Hoops midfield. Lennon scored one goal last season, against Dunfermline at East End Park and was on target against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Ryan Giggs testimonial. Look at the way Lennon model's the new Celtic Away shirt - Bravo, here, here.

( 19 ) Stilian Petrov - 5 / 7 / 1979

The 22-year old Bulgarian is another player who has benefited enormously from the guidance of Martin O 'Neill. The midfielder has been a first-team regular this season and was instrumental for the Hoops with a string of consistent performances. His season ended prematurely last season when he broke his leg in a game against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park. Petrov is now back in full swing, he has made a great come back, just the same way Larsson did, this boy is a great talent, well done Petrov.

( 25 ) Lubomir Moravcik - 22 / 6 / 1965

The fans favourite player, we all love Lubo, his ball skills are something that will be missed when this great decided to hang up his green and white boots. The veteran Slovakian midfielder was the second signing of Dr Josef Venglos and arrived as an unknown at the club in October 1998. He has since become a firm favourite of the Celtic fans courtesy of his mesmeric skills and his deadly shooting power. Lubo crowned a fantastic season with two superb goals against Rangers when the Champions won 3-0 at Ibrox. Larsson added the 3rd.

( 35 ) Johan Mjallby - 9 / 2 / 1971

The Swedish internationalist forced his way into the team after being left on the sidelines at the start of last season, and since regaining his place in Martin O 'Neil's squad has been in outstanding form at the back. His contribution was rewarded with the captains armband in the absence of Tom Boyd and Paul Lambert. Mjallby scored Celtic's first goal of this season in the 3-0 victory against St Johnstone.

( 30 ) Steve Guppy - 29 / 3 / 1969

Guppy has proved a bargain since his 950.000 move from Port Vale, and some impressive performances saw him called up to the full England squad. But despite playing the full 90 minutes in a friendly with Belgium, the former Wycome Wanderers player failed to make Kevin Keegan's squad for Euro 2000. Widely regarded as being one of the best crossers in the Premiership, Guppy, who has twice played under Martin O'Neill, at Wycombe and Leicester City, was in and out of the Leicester team last season. He was part of the Leicester team that won the Worthington Cup in 1999/2000, I see guppy as a waste of time, and I don't ever want to see him in a Celtic shirt, he's not a Celt.

Strikers

( 17 ) Didier Agathe - 16 / 8 / 1975

The Frenchman is a versatile player who has been an impressive performer on the wide right of a five-man midfield. He moved to Raith Rovers from Montpellier the season before last, then spent a brief period at Easter Road where he hit the headlines with a series of stunning .

( 10 ) John Hartson - 5 / 4 / 1975

The Welsh internationalist is a powerful striker who joined Celtic from Coventry City, where his goals towards the end of last season failed to prevent the Sky Blues from being relegated. He is an aggressive and direct player with a natural eye for goals.

( 9 ) Chris Sutton - 10 / 03 / 1973

The former Blackburn Rovers and Chelsea striker was Martin O'Neill first signing when he splashed out 6 million on the 27-year old. He made an immediate impact, scoring the winner on the first day of last season in a 2-1 victory over Dundee United at Tannadice. Has formed a lethal partnership up front with Henrik Larsson.

( 7 ) Henrik Larsson - 10 / 9 / 1971

Celtic's Magnificent Seven signed an extension to his contract at the end of the 2000-01 season, pledging himself to Celtic until 2004.A member of the Swedish international side who came third in the USA in 1994, Larsson swept the boards in Player of the Year awards in season 2000-2001 in Scotland in the process of scoring a phenomenal 53 goals, which earned him the European Golden Shoe Award. His form last year put paid to any fears that the serious leg break he suffered the season before last against Lyon would affect his performances.
