Decision time - news on the voting - March 2007
Amendments added 2 Feb 2007
The following changes to BSCRA rules have been proposed. Could members please give their votes to their Area Co-Ordinators, the Area Co-Ordinators . It is recommended you give your votes to your Area Co-Ordinators by 11 February 2007. (Please note Area Co-Ordinators must pass their area vote on to the BSCRA Secretary by 20 February 2007.)
A Proposed changes to Car Standards
(A1)
Bodies for 1/24 Eurosport shall meet either the end plate dimensions for
current BSCRA OG12 bodies or conform to the 2006 ISRA body spec.
Maximum rear wing height for both 35mm
NOTE The
ISRA rule has slightly longer end plates but must have a step, so down force is
about equal. For details of the spec see page 34 - 35 of the 2006
ISRA
rule book
(This is a large pdf file) Examples of shells meeting the ISRA spec are the
BPA Caddy, Shadow and Red Fox Audi
(A2) 1/24 Open Group 12 to be limited
to bodies that have raced in the FIA GT series in the last 3 years. The Council
will determine suitable dimension for rear height, min cockpit height and width
to allow suitable existing bodies.
NOTE Bodies such as the Aston Martin DBR9, Maserati, Ferrari 550
will be included
Amendments to A2

3 min cockpit width 56mm
Mounting dimensions:
Maximum rear wing height 38mm
Please vote for one of the alternative mounting dimensions A 2.2 or A 2.3
NOTE. As these bodies are scale representations, some have narrow noses that will not cover the chassis.
Also to be included in these rules is: chassis in front of the front wheels (but not the guide) may be seen from above.
(A 2.2) Minimum height to where the windscreen meets the roof is 36mm
Or

visible from above shall be reversed
NOTE If you do not want guides not to be visible from above,
vote against this proposal. If you want to allow guides that are visible from
above, vote for the proposal.
(A4) If realistic front wheel decals are fitted and visible in the correct place on the body shell, the actual wheels need not be visible, but must still be fitted as per the current rules

is made to ensure that racers are made fully aware of what they will be voting
for."

BSCRA Secretary
December 2006
It is also worth mentioning that BSCRA Council members and other officials are appointed each year (except for the magazine editor who is appointed for two years). Very often the existing Council member is the only candidate for their post, so they are reappointed unopposed. However, other BSCRA members can be proposed for these posts. If there is more than one candidate for a Council post, then an election is held – and all BSCRA members have the opportunity to vote.
I should point out that there is a lot of work for officials to do, so the posts are only suitable for people with the time as well as the enthusiasm to do the work. Some of this work will be obvious to members but a lot of the work needed to run the Association takes place “behind the scenes”. Anybody who is thinking of standing would be well advised to find out more about what’s involved first – this might best be done by contacting the Chairman, Secretary or the official currently in the post. Nominations for candidates (proposed and seconded by BSCRA members) need to be received by the BSCRA secretary (Chris Frost ) by 20th February 2007.
