Smiths Farm is located between Charmouth & Lyme Regis ( directly off the A35) in a tranquil rural location within a Designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The property is surrounded by open farmland and is within 5 minutes drive of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast where the quiet coastal village of Charmouth and the small historic town of Lyme Regis are located - both world famous for fossil hunting as well as having excellent beaches. The market town of Axminster lies approximately 4 miles to the west, with its main line railway connection to Waterloo. There are plenty of footpaths to walk; large areas of land around Charmouth and Lyme Regis are owned by the National Trust providing open access to the public. The property has far reaching rural views and is accessed by its own private drive.
The two semi-detached holiday cottages have recently been created from
the conversion of a 200 year old flint barn, the barn has traditional 18"
thick flint walls under a natural slate roof. Both cottages have 'Economy
7' night storage central heating and are double glazed throughout.
Each of the properties overlook the Char valley and have outstanding,
far reaching views to beautiful rolling Dorset farmland, woodland,
hills and the two Iron Age hill-forts of Lamberts and Coneys castles. The
surrounding woods & farmland are home to a wide variety of wildlife
including deer, badgers, foxes and buzzards.
The cottages are in a very safe and secure location being at the end of a private access lane shared only with the adjacent farmhouse (not a working farm). The nearest shops and public houses are approximately 5 minutes drive away in Charmouth whilst a Tesco Supermarket is located 4 miles away in Axminster.
The cottages have only recently been converted, they are newly decorated and furnished throughout, and both are rated as 3 STAR standard by Visit Britain.
WALKING: West Dorset is criss-crossed by a maze of public footpaths, bridleways, cliff tracks, forest trails, prehistoric ridgeways and packhorse trails. Whether you want a relaxing ramble or a more arduous hike, West Dorset can offer something for almost all walkers. Apart from short to medium circular walks, there is the nearby Liberty Trail - a 28 mile footpath from South Somerset to Lyme Regis following the route of the Duke of Monmouth's supporters in 1685. There are also the South West Coastal Path - a National Trail that follows all of the Dorset coastal path and Monarchs Way - a path following the escape route of Charles II after the battle of Worcester in 1651, a 615 mile walk that ends at Charmouth.

Bed linen and towels provided (one bath towel and one hand towel per person - but please supply your own beach towels). Electricity is included in the price.

Please Note: Water is from a private spring-fed supply that meets all the statutory regulations for drinking water.
