Here I will try to outline what material I will accept for transferring to CD and that which I might have to refer elsewhere.
Basically I want to provide for people in similar circumstances to those I found myself in, an extensive LP record collection that I wanted to listen to via CD.
In the main that will mean Long Play Vinyl Records at 33 revs per minute. Any style, any number.
Original cassette tapes can be dealt with. Again any style, any number.
Each CD produced will hold a maximum of 80 minutes of music. Generally, I will produce one CD for each LP or cassette being transferred (If a "double" LP fits onto one CD, I would only charge for one!).
Vinyl singles at 45 rpm I am less keen on. It is more difficult to reproduce reasonable quality CDs with a greater number of sound files being created. It is not impossible, and I would do it, but because of the disproportionate time it takes in comparison with LPs it will be more expensive to produce an 80 minute compilation of singles tracks.
All of these materials must be originals, owned by you and in good condition (i.e. not causing damage to my turntable, stylus or tape deck!). If I envisage any difficulties with materials received I will contact you and discuss viable options available.
Reel to Reel tapes - As of May 2005 I can accept "Reel to Reel" tapes for transfer due to the acquisition of an ex professional recording studio stereo machine. If you are looking for this service please contact me and we can work out a price for your individual requirements.
78's - whilst I am able to do 78's, they are similar to singles in as much as they have relatively short play times in comparison with LPs. Again, it is worth contacting me in advance to decide how to accomodate your requirements.
Restorations or specialised cleaning – I can provide details of other services that can handle these types of queries if you wish.
I am happy to provide advice with no obligation, so contact me via this form and I will let you know what I think is the best solution.
