Since its inception in 1982 Interzone has been regularly nominated for the Hugo Award, one of the greatest accolades in science fiction, winning in 1995. Having perused the pages of this issue, I see no reason why this tradition should not continue. With the retirement of founding editor David Pringle, the legendary sci fi magazine Interzone has changed hands, moving to the equally legendary TTA Press. What does this mean for its fans? To be honest, not having seen any of the previous editions I’m not able to make a judgement. What I will say though is that issue 194 is a stylish and beautifully edited debut.
The magazine specialises in longer than average short fiction of the highest quality. The stories lead the reader into worlds of fantasy and illusion where real life happens in unreal settings. Illustrations are stunning and definitely meet my personal criteria of enhancing the stories without giving away too much of the plot.
Most of the stories in this issue have a somewhat spiritual theme
