Some members of Silverdale Scout Group on the Centenary  Camp in May 2007

As we move into 2008 after a fun packed Centenary Year the group continues to provide a range of activities. Whilst 2008 can never compete with the special feeling of 2007 with some one off events the group has already planned a number of camps and exciting activities for its members including attending the International Friendship Camp at Kibblestone in the summer.

The Group is also already starting to think about 2009 which will see the 80th Birthday of the Group which will be our special year.

Website updated

Due to a busy year in 2007 I unfortunately failed to keep the website updated but I have slowly been adding photos from camps and activities last year. I have recently added a new style to the gallery which should make it easier and quicker for me to add new photos – why not check it out now?  Click here Gallery I’d appreciate any comments.

Founder’s Day Service

Members of the Group held a Founders Day Service at St Luke’s Church on Sunday 25th February 2007 to mark Baden-Powell’s Birthday and one of many activities the Group plans to mark the Centenary of Scouting this year. The service was especially poignant as the founder of the Group in 1929 was Father Howlett who was Vicar of St Lukes and GSL for the first two years.

During the Service two leaders were also presented with their wood badge to show completion of their formal training as Leaders. The Service ended with everyone being given a piece of cake.
