STOCKPORT GEORGIANS F.C.

The Club was started in 1908 from the local church of St Georges and started in the local Stockport League with the late 1920s bringing the Club it's first success.

After joining the Lancashire and Cheshire Football League, the Club enjoyed it's next success in 1932, with the trophy coming in the mid 1960s.

After claiming the Third Division Championship and the Rhodes Cup in the mid 1980s, the Club amalgamated with Adswood Amateurs in 1987, with the newly formed Georgians Club claiming the Premier Division title, as Adswood had the season before.

The following season saw the team split up with half the players who had brought success moving into the semi-pro ranks.

From the mid 1990s, Georgians struggled to compete, avoiding relegation by the skin of their teeth on several occasions.

This last season has been the most successful in many years, the last honour for the Club being when Ged Newcombe received the Secretary of the Year award in 1997-98.

2001-2002 season saw the good times return, the First Team winning the Premier Division Championship and Gilgryst Cup double, a fantastic achievement.

The Second Team also had a good year, reaching the Semi-Finals of the Stockport Senior Cup, narrowly losing to Mid-Cheshire League side Cheadle Heath Nomads as well as finishing runners-up of the Second Division.

Last Season the 1st team finished a close 3rd while the 2nd team bounced back from their Semi Final defeat in the Stockport Senior Cup to win it the following year and continue the good run.

This season Georgians have entered the 3rd team into the Manchester league for the first time having 3 teams competing at this level.
