2001 is destined to be the last year that sees the full use of Class 47s alongside HSTs on CrossCountry workings.
This site has been set up to show this popular, yet common and often under-rated fleet as it was during 2001, and some details on each loco in the 'ILRA' locomotive pool. Many of the services these 'long-range' Class 47s work will be detailed, to give an idea of the wide range of destinations these 35 year old locos work to, along with information you either didnt know, or hadnt heard of for a while!
